I dont like rider down posts

Fed up reading about them so dont anymore.

Someone’s down, so what. Really what difference?! It happens. Cant do nothing, cant learn from it, just makes me think oh ****e another poor sod bit the dust. I dont find it interesting either, really pointless in my opinion.

Different if an LBr, why, not sure really, but at least LBr can relate to potentially.

Anyway, back home after a few beers so Im talking my mind

TELL ME ABOUT IT ! Thanks, so im not the only one out there. it puts me off coming on this site!

Sorry for those who have to crash test…!

thats the good bit about choice, you can choose not to read them !

When my hubby was hit by a cage recently the support was great and helped,

ease the shock and the replies often put things back into perspective… it

is only a bike… It must be good to know that you will never feel the way

we did when it happened…

I feel a healthy debate coming on

As long as that’s all it is Andrew.

hey Andrew, great pictures on your site

I hate to read them but do - I even watch the news when there is a war on!

It keeps you on your toes and gives you a chance to be supportive - know i would appreciate it if it was me or mine

PS if a post appears with me in it can you organise a whipround

I’ve posted this before. Why do we need to know about every bike that someone sees by the side of the road. If it is a member of the site and they have a story to tell then fine but if you were coming home and seen police etc you are no better then any other rubber necker.

Again, if you don’t want to read them them don’t!

Rider down posts, as was shown in the recent one about Rictus, are the best way to let people know that one of your fellow mates has had an accident and needs your support. I know that if I ever had a crash, knowing that my mates (be them from forums/work) are around and giving support would make me feel a hell of a lot better.

That’s what biking is all about isn’t it? Enjoying your machine, and helping fellow bikers out when they are in trouble.

Bollox, keep em

now that I am sober, I just wanted to add that I didn’t mean to seem insensitive to anyone on here who has come off or knows people that have come off, its just like nuts says

that being said, if and when I do have my third off (im sure im due one!), and I am still alive, I wont be expecting any debate about my off, we all know its down to luck, fate, chance, skills etc etc etc

fair comment bender, keep em for LBrs

You missed the point Paul

If it is a member of this board, a friend, work colleague or even someone that you might vaguely know of that has had an off then fine but if you have no association with that person I don’t see the point.

If you happened to come across a bike, which is clearly being taken care of by the rescue services, police etc then there is no point getting involved. I’ve had this experience in the past. A biker down, loads of cars had already stopped and an ambulance was there so I carried on. Then later that day noticed everyone had gone but bike had been left. Called the local police and offered to take the bike to a local garage and was told they couldn’t give me any details of the person involved in accident due to patient confidentiality but they would pass on my offer. Called me back to say thanks but no thanks.

If you are one of the first to come across the scene of an accident and you can help fine. I wouldn’t leave someone stranded by the side of the road but if you are just sticking your nose in then quite frankly go get a life.

I passed a broken break lever this afternoon, did I post a biker down thread. NO.

my two pence worth…

i think the biker down posts are very informative…most times i get the hump with them becouse its a horrible reminder of what happends on the road and it keeps me in check…

i remember having this conversation recentley and i got to thinking…the description of the bike and rider could be valueble…if i were to read of a bikerdown post and it matched a description of maybee…one of my mates or colluges on a route i know that they take…i could then take action in the best possable mannor…ie…phone them asap!!!

i agree that the posts are grim but im afraid ppls…thats what comes as a package of biking…

so too wrap up my opinion, the bottom line is that we’re all grownups, and if ya dont wanna read the posts…dont open em….

strait up smiled.

cheers

Not sure I agree that it should be kept only for LBers. I for one am part of a bigger biking community. I don’t only nod at LBers. I have respect for any fellow biker and those same people that I acknowledge at the traffic lights may one day be involved in an accident. Likewise, I have biking friends who are not members of this forum (no-one’s perfect lol) and I would want to know if they had been involved in accident just as much if not more than if it was a fellow forum member.

These threads are not pleasant reading and I would prefer them not to be here at all but only for the right reason – no bikers down! Until then, if we do not know the rider, lets use them to spare a few moments thought for a fellow biker and as a reminder that it can happen to us all.

Biker down post aren’t the best things in the world but worth having, its a good felling to know that other bikers sympathy as normally they are the only people who really understand the dangers and thrills of riding.

I like the fact that if I don’t appear on Londonbikers for a day or two I get a phone call to make sure im not lying in a ditch somewhere (just so happens im always in a ditch when they call)
When I was in hospital after my off I was brought a printed version of all your posts saying the norm get well soon, lets go for a ride when your better, never meet you Da Artist but hope your on the mend (I still think your all weird but the card & posts were cool) things like that help, the biker down posts should stay and if they spoil your day then don’t open the thread.

You must have opened more than one Biker Down thread to of wanted to post this one, you know whats on the other side of that mouse click when its titled Biker Down so stop clicking them!

Why dont the mods make a seperate section for thsese posts? then those people that dont wanna read em dont need to go in there,i think that smiled made a REALLY good point, you could possibly identify a friend from a description, and of course, reading them should make us all realise just how vulnerable we are if we let our concentration slip for just a second

Ade

Nah…That’s not necessary.

If you know how to log in, you know how to not click on a biker down thread.

Scroll down, and move along people.

A new section was created as to not offend people the ‘Adult Section’ but people that are easily offended still click on adult links and then moan when they are offended this same attitude would happen in a biker down section.
Adding more sections just adds more clutter to LB.

Agreed…

Sounds a bit like that dude that sued Mc D cos his Apple pie was hot in the middle and it burnt his lip…Doh!
