HUSQVARNA SM510R

HI EVERYONE, CAN ANYONE TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT THIS BIKE I’M THINKING OF BUYING IT’S AN 06 MODEL HAS SOME MODS, IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION ASKING PRICE OF £4500.I’M TESTING NEXT WEEK BUT WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR COMENTS, GOOD AND BAD POINTS, IF THERE REALIABLE OR NOT, YOU KNOW THE SORT OF THING !!! MANY THANKS.

erm im not much of a supermoto expert but from what i know Huskys and KTMs are generally well built machines and should have a fair bit of grunt in em because they normally are full power as standard unlike some suzuki’s and yamahas. Should be quite reliable as most supermotos have solid engines. It should accelerate to about 110 but will try and rip your arms off whilst doing it Lol. Also all supermotos are absolute wheelie demons so take it easy on the throttle.

Have a look at the KTM520 awell, they are well made bikes and very quick, should be slighty cheaper than the husky.

Only bad points i can think of are constant need for oil and filter change but thats common with all supermotos

I think it’s a based on the 450 motor (obviously bored out to 510)

From what I remember it’s a pretty good bike performance wise.

Frequent oil changes required.

Should remember though, big singles that perform also tend to go pop.

You could always ask here: www.supermotard.co.uk

thanks for that it do’s help.

all the best

When have you got the test ride? remember to post up here and tell us what it’s like

Supposed to be a good bike and they look very nice

Husky’s have a bad rep on the electrics front, but I ain’t heard any real issues except the one fast bikes tested needed to be bump started (no kick start). Not sure about service intervals but I would imagine 1000 miles or so. They come with a 2 year warranty so at least you can have that piece of mind.

I saw the FB test.

Now I’m sure what model it is, I can say I really liked the look of 'em.

2 year warranty on a proper motard is priceless!

thanks again guys, i will let ya know how i get on with test ride, will also try honda crf450 x in supermoto trim.

phwoar i love the crf450 my mates got one and i ride it all the time, feels soo much quicker than my mito lol

If it were me I wouldn’t consider a CRF if you intend on using the bike daily. Its a full on proper race bike with service intervals to match. I know people who do oil and filters every 250 miles They also need regular piston changes etc which are measured in hours not miles. Don’t get me wrong I’ve heard good things about CRF’s but I only know of one person who used his to commute etc. If yours will be a sunny sunday tool then but otherwise I’d go elsewhere.

hi supermoto, thanks for advice, no the supermoto is just for fun !!! maybe i will use for rides to work in bad weather instead of my gixer 10000 k5 that i use every day for work and fun, also have kx250f for off road. i want to go supermoto school !! the 510 is full comp bike to with high mantainace but i think fun factor is worth it

He’s right - great motard - superlight and powerful - but very service intensive.

I’ve got a 04 in motard trim as a race bike. Take the test ride - you’ll die laughing!

The husky scores very high in my mind, it’s not quite as bonkers as the CRF - but that 2 years cover is priceless.

I wouldn’t have thought the Husky was anywhere near as service intensive as the CRF, not if it comes with a warranty I would reckon on 1000 miles services which i personally would rather even if the husky is heavier. For me as a road bike rather than a race bike the Husky would do it for me every time
