Can any Garmin users let me know what you think?
Joby - despite the fact that our cheap Garmin from Tesco (70 quid) won’t follow this, we think your explanation is top. Very clear, a girl could understand it. Thanks for posting, we won’t use it but are sure that many people will.
Crack on:cool:
Nice one!
If you choose the activity as car or walking, does it make a difference or is it another way of flagging what the routes are for?
Will have a play next week.
Oh nice one, I normally just use base camp but using Google maps makes it easier
I’ve not found much difference between car and motorcycle. If you choose walking I think it will let you go the wrong way down one way streets, through parks and pedestrianized zones. I’ll get a closer look at that to see what the differences are.
One other thing to be aware of is that with the latest version of Basecamp there is an activity profile at the bottom of the list for Motorcycle (Curvy). That should plot curvy routes between way points that you can send to your satnav. So you can navigate what it thinks are curvy roads even if you don’t have the latest satnav with that feature built in.
Joby did you ever try ITN Converter for route planning? Download it here, try it free, make a donation if you like it/use it.
Quick overview - Choice of 41 different maps to plan your routes on including Google Maps, Map Quest Maps, Via michelin etc. My preference is Open Street Maps. Export itineraries/routes as Garmin .mps, .gdb, .gpx, .rte and .wpt files or TomTom .itn and ov2 files, plus 41 other file types covering all GPS systems. Simple route planning via search function or left click on map and select option from drop down menu. I normally plan my routes by inputting a start and finish point then just add way points according to the route I want to take. One nice feature of ITN Converter is the favourites menu, add your favourite starting points, destinations and way points here and they’re just two clicks away when route planning.
Not sure how it interfaces with Garmin but with the old TomTom One I am able to save itineraries/routes to the Computer or to the Tom Tom or drag and drop between the two.
I’ve not looked at ITN converter yet. Could be part of a future video. I’m pleased to have my channel running again. I’ve not posted enough on there recently.
