Sounds like they need a decent horn on that! Maybe a truck horn or something…

I can see why the Americans are so ‘popular’ in that part of the world now. . . :doze:

A moving target is harder to hit eh.

exactly! they never know when they are being deliberatly slowed into a killing zone so take no chances, just as well they are using the horn and bumper aproach rather than the M2 up top

they must have red crosses on them if the yanks are targeting them

that sounds like a tank or something like it going by the engine noise

They are not being deliberately slowed into a killing zone - they are driving through a crowded congested city which they shouldn’t be in in the first place - that’s like a load of arabs driving tooled up through London and bashing people out of the way because - suprise suprise - it’s a crowded congested capital city.Methinks a lot of the folks on here would be getting rather angry if that happened in London. . . shoe on the other foot and all that :Whistling:

filtering with atitude:hehe::w00t::w00t:

Thats taking the p!$$…i couldn’t believe what I was watching…

Ha ha very good :stuck_out_tongue:

those GIs are just doing their jobs, of course insurgents are also doing their jobs. it is just professionalism, pure and simple:D

Hearts and minds… Not

To those that find the way these American troops are driving is, shall I say unsettling, I have one question for you.

Have you ever driven around Baghdad? I have, it’s lawless, there’s no Highway code.

US Military Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) is they DO NOT STOP for anything under any circumstance! This is because of the moving target is harder to hit idea. However, most are driven by kids of about 18/19.

It’s fun when approaching a major roundabout, say at the 14 July roundabout when there’s two American convoys and neither is willing to give way to the other. I’m not saying they are faultless, but to be fair, the locals have had the Americans, Brits and other Nations there for over 5yrs now. We all use the same Dont stop system. The locals should (as some of the drivers did) move out the way.

Just for info, the horn on a Humvee is pants, also they do about 8 miles to the gallon and have a turning circle of an ocean going oil tanker! They weren’t designed for the urban environment but for the planes of Central Europe. In this respect the ‘Snatch’ Land Rover used by the Brits is better, if less protected.

I appreciate their tactical imperatives when driving through an armed and hostile city - but I can’t help but get angry when I watch this stuff in the context of everything that is known about that war. Sorry.

Hey Sid,

I see your point. Some of the ‘insergents’/‘freedom fighters’ have attacked convoys in busy streets over the years, not giving a monkeys about the locals. Some of which are probably their friends.

There’s always two sides to a coin.

Fair point Rob.

you have to understand those soldiers, they’ve killed so many civilians there, and they know how much they are hated by locals. If I were hated by locals, i would never ride out in london in daylight:)

It’s always easy to be an armchair critic from 6,000 miles away. I think unless you’ve lived that life, you can’t really begin to pass judgement. Sure, the video seems exciting, and sure you can see the locals being pissed off as would I, but I would also hate to be the sitting-duck soldier. You’ve gotta make the best out of any situation…

what i have showed and said in this thread is fact rather than merely my opinion. i hate to be an aimchair critic or armchair whatever, but that is the most i could do in an on-line forum:D
