i got in to work last week and found a screw in my tire. went and had it plugged no worries. got in to work the very next morning and guess what. another screw. went to have it sorted but as i already had 3 plugs was told it would be best to get a new tire, so £120 later (not including the £20 for the plug the day before) i left with a new rear, replacing one that was no more than 5000 miles old.
i just wandered outside on the phone and was looking at the bike and guess what was shining out of the rear. a nail.
there are a hell of a lot of roadworks on my commute at the moment (thank you Thames Water for digging up 3/4 of London) but this is just taking the p*ss now. how on earth do i keep getting them?
or has someone just got a grudge…
do you have a magnetic rims or something??
Tends to happen a lot all of a sudden if major construction work starts happening on your regular route.Only other thing to do is try and stay out of middle/kerb parts of the road where sharp metal crap tends to end up.
I’ve had an expensive tyre destroyed by a large bolt after just 200 miles and I know someone who got a bolt through the tread and sidewall of a new tyre (writing it off) a quarter of a mile up the road from the tyre shop after it had just been fitted 2 minutes beforehand. . .!
ive had 5 punctures in 6months and 2 new tyres. plugged up as recently as last thursday!
Getting my latest puncture fixed last weekend, the fitter was telling me about some poor guy that had a £160 tyre write off after 40/50 miles due to a cocktail stick going in through the tread and out through the side wall.
Now that is unlucky.
no punctures in 8000 miles thank goodness! Big guy up there is looking after moi
