Okay, now we’ve more or less decided IT IS important to have a back protector, I think we should list the ones we have and reccomend to help others decide which make/model to go for.

That would be helpful as I have decided that I should get one after reading this.

I suppose the same can be said for most protection - ‘get the best you can afford’ ‘how much is your head worth?’ (for helmets).
But having spent more than i can sensibly afford on a helmet and other gear, what would be the best ‘affordable’ (not crap though) back protector? Lidl!? Infinity own brand? or all out Knox branded?
Cheers,
G

After reading this and other threads on Back Protectors I too will now be investing in one. The advice on LB is superb.

If anyone does make a recommendation is there any chance of including a link or a specific product name/number as some manufacturers have multiple versions of very similar things?

Thanks in advance.

Once again, [Forcefield](http://www.forcefieldbodyarmour.co.uk/product_selector.asp) is my prefered brand. With most of the other back protectors, you get Level 1 protection, and you have to buy a new one after a substantial impact (Like Smiled’s;)) However, Forcefield is Level 2, and re-usable. I have the following items, and I would recommend them for quality and comfort…

Although I only bought the pants for the feeling of Lycra!!!:w00t::w00t:😛

forcefield back protector has saved me a few times now. in my ‘big’ crash (understatement :w00t:) i landed on my back at 130mph and smashed into another bike spine first and my back protector did its job and saved my spine and my life. spend money on cheap gear and you get cheap!!!

i find the back protector in my hein gericke is good quality (level 2) but covers enough area to just about protect a gnat 😉

I always wear one. Got a Dainese one (can’t remember the model). It fits fine and does not restrict. May or may not save my back, but I am not going to chance that now I have one.

In cold weather I wear my Klan heated waistcoat with the back protector on top, and done up around the waistcoat it is like a permanent warm hug!! 😃 😃 😃

Always wear my Dainese one when on the bike. I prefer it as it is shorter than most and doesn’t catch on my shoulder blades - you can just about see it in the BCW photo [http://londonbikers.com/galleries/image/0b3d83df-cd6a-4844-8194-4b91381747cb/11b8d34f-cb1d-404d-887e-62fa2742bf6b](http://londonbikers.com/galleries/image/0b3d83df-cd6a-4844-8194-4b91381747cb/11b8d34f-cb1d-404d-887e-62fa2742bf6b)Not only did it do a great job when I was sliding along the track at Cadwell on my back (it absorbed the bumps rather than my ‘inbuilt padding’ _ahem_ having to do it) but apparently it’s “the wonderbra of back protectors” - according to another female LB member! :w00t:😉
