Reports that everyone got out alive!!
round of applause for the piloting skills there I think… well done that man.
God, they were lucky, for some reason the plane didn’t sink, its still drifting down the river, so they had time to lift people off the winigs.
Short haul flight so the tanks had little fuel in compared to what it could carry. Damn lucky indeed.
And lucky they were taking off from La Guardia with that great big river handy to put it down on, in the middle of a city harbour full of ferries etc to take people off. Can you imagine the mess if they’d been taking off from somewhere like Mexico City?Still, large round of applause for Chesley Sullenberger III.
(III? They’d use a name like that more than once? Jeez…)
Several beers to that man. I’ve been watching MSNBC and it seems the press in the U.S. are calling it the `Miracle on the Hudson’. Well, a miracle is an event inexplicable by the laws of nature, perhaps supernatural. So it’s not a sodding miracle, it’s damn good piloting skills and those blokes deserve praise heaped upon them. I hate lazy, easy, cliched journalism.
Is that what you call a jet wash. And not a pole in sight
Each time I see this I’m amazed that everyone survived. Top Gun flying from the pilot!
Amazing considering every other plane to crash there (and there’s been a few, I’ve landed there myself) has resulted in a lot of loss of life. The pilot did an incredible job to land the plane with no power, and FLAT. Any other angle and the plan would have broken up or just sunk to the bottom.
