How Did People Cope Before..?

How did people cope before they put signs on motorways to tell you it’s getting foggy?

I mean, they must have all thought they were going blind or something…

But how do you see 'em when it’s really foggy? :hehe:

I would think fog looks the same with or without signs ,on or off the motorway.

would be funny if they did think that back in the day then oh my sight is back:w00t: once they clear it

Rats! I forgot to indicate sarcasm again!

I remember when we used to get real fog, not that nancy stuff they call fog these days.
What with that and the summers getting wetter, the country’s going to the dogs.
I blame Thatcher…;)

Thatcher ! that would be when the country still had some pride.

People didn’t cope, they died. In 1984 22 vehicles collided in fog killing 11 people on the M25 near Godstone becasue of a hidden bank of fog. One minute they were in the clear, the next minute they were dead. Those people are why the matrix signs now warn when there is a likelihood of fog. The incident also lead to the development of automatic fog detectors linked to the matrix signs that are in many places on them otorway where fog tends to sit.

And on that cheery note, I’ll run a hot bath, get a bottle of gin and put some Radiohead on… :crying:
