how dangerous is your mobile phone?

boss just showed me this, qhich is quite cool, but also quite worrying!!!

popcorn…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPf8dXsZ1PE&NR=1

lol what are the chances of someone being under the table heating them up?

dont think its real but good lol

but theres lots of them on you tube babes

i didnt beleive it either, till i hada look and youtube is full of videos…

why does it take 4 minutes in a microwave set to full power

while couple of secs here… hmm…:ermm: :Whistling: :stuck_out_tongue: fake…

Very fake.

And now the science bit:

Microwave ovens work on a frequency of 2.45GHz
Mobile phones work on 0.9, 1.8, and 2.1 GHz

Food cooks due the absorption of the microwave energy at 2.45Ghz level. Mobile phones frequency is low to interact with the food. Additional a Microwave is typically 500Watts, a mobile phone is perhaps a maximum of 800mWatts. Big, big difference.

Fake, definitely, but entertaining none the less.

And why would pointing the receiving phones at the target make any difference ?. 800mw at 2.45 gigs sounds quite a lot to me and i suspect it is significantly lower which is a shame cos we don’t have a microwave oven in the house but we do have 4 mobile phones :stuck_out_tongue:

At idle a mobile phone is consuming around 50-90 mWatts (Milli- as in a thousandth). That will increase by a factor of 10 when transmitting/receiving.

So is that consumption of battery power as apposed to radiated rf ?

I worked for a massive telecoms company for a few years…

…and with out boring you witht he facts…Ghz / dB / etc etc…

Long hair produces more static than a mobile phone

Your average radio produces 10 times the amount of db (dBm—The dB value is compared to 1 mW)

So in essance…its bullshit

The one that gets me is the petrol station, they have a fit when you walk across the forecourt phone in hand…the truth of the matter is the relay in the fuel pump produces more backwards EMF and static pulse than a mobile phone ever will.

“check yourselves” with your intimate knowledge of all things science and technical. Who said bikers were dumb brutes hey??? mostly were geeks by my reconing. haha :stuck_out_tongue:

ahhhh its just a trade…get me to plaster a wall and id be .

 i cant wait to try explain that to the retarded night staff lol

The popcorn may well be fake, but you can certainly hard boil an egg between two old style phones in about 5 mins!!:w00t:

The only reason they dont cook our brains is due to circulation of blood.

Ever wondered why you ear gets hot during a long conversation on the blower?

When the phone is transmitting the battery warms up ? thats one reason why your ear gets warm

Tried this, our Brocolli is still al dente after 50 redials. Any advice? Hoping this was the solution to our lightweight cooking for our fortcomming trip to Nordkapp and Port Stanley. Might need to reconsider and take a couple of candles and a plant pot.

I worked for a company that used to install the tranceivers on buildings . . . the engineers wouldn’t go anywhere near them when they were turned in, even behind them were it was supposedly safe and they didn’t use mobile phones next to their head either, always on a hands free earpiece and mic. They admitted that there was no significant testing to determine safe exposure levels . . . never been done because the market was worth too much to even hint at a scare . . . but a number of people every year have to stop using mobiles because of headaches and other brain type issues.

All very interesting science and street wisdom but there is a significant point missed so far.

YOUR BOSS HAS TOO MUCH TIME ON HIS HANDs.

Now he has been spotted, go for the promotion/salary raise.

I think you’ve been using your 'phone too much recently ;):stuck_out_tongue:
