I dropped my 400/4 in the back of a van and have dent / scratch in the tank. Anybody know who can repair it.
It will probably a tack and pull with a slide hammer then a bit of filling and respay … it’s a F2 tank.
I’ve also got an older tank from an F1 which I might have resparyed at the same time … this is a bit of an “ongoing project”
Ohhh a 400/4 project, other half will be doing up his …eventually, so i will ask him later, so cant offer any suggestions at the moment, but please post up some pics of the project
blimey that takes me back a few years the old 400/4 cracking little bike in its day
Ok this has been a bit of long project. I bought it when I was going to be redundant, it was a basket … well box case and I paid £150 for it. Somebody had decided it would be a chopper. It had cowhorn handlebars, banana seat and orange wheels and other bits. This was a while ago though … 1992.I bought bits when I could and used to go back to my folks (where I kept it) when I had holidays from work. I got the engine rebuilt and then bought an abandoned project from a guy who’d done the bodywork and frame.
I started it today
… god it feels old !!! I need to lube the gear shift and fit a rear brake light switch … and I reckon it could pass an MOT !!! It’s got an oil leak though and the starter motor just makes a screechy noise.

Careful or I’ll try to sell it to you
I’m always tempted by a classic bike:w00t:
I may need a tankman too … I got a dent to sort out.
Innit - but I’ve got a second tank and a pair of original side panels … I’ll probably get those done in the F1 solid red.
Back from hols and remembered this thread,
Other half had a mate of his sort both of his 400/4 tanks out (used to do it for a living some years back ), I know he brought the paint from http://www.rsbikepaint.com/en/ who were at Ally Paly this year and they have been at some of the Classic Bikes shows we have been to the last couple of years, very helpful and knowledgeable.
Must say your “project” is looking good
I used RS for a Yamaha FZR I did a couple of years back, I sprayed the bodywork using their rattle cans

Altimura are saying about £220
So… hows the project going ?
Update please
