MY HUSBAND WAS INVOLVED IN A HIT AND RUN ON THE A24 ON WEDNESDAY 15TH OCTOBER. THE INCIDENT OCCURED ON MERANTUM ROAD, MERTON/TOOTING AT AROUND 7.30 AM.IT WAS MADE ALL THE MORE HORRIFIC AS THE DRIVER OF THE CAR RAN OVER HIS LEG BREAKING IT IN 3 PLACES AND THEN LEFT THE SCENE OF THE CRIME. WE ARE APPEALING TO ANYONE WHO MIGHT HAVE WITNESSED THIS INCIDENT TO REPLY TO THIS POST. IN PARTICULAR THE 2 BIKERS HE WAS FILTERING BEHIND PRIOR TO THE EVENT.
HE IS STILL IN HOSPITAL AS ONE OF THE BONES PIERCED THE SKIN AND THE HOLE IT MADE NEEDS TO HEAL FIRST. THE MAIN SHIN BONE HAS BEEN REPAIRED USING A PIN. HE IS COMPLETELY TRAUMATISED BY THE WHOLE SITUATION AND WOULD APPRECIATE AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE.
Strewth, do not know what was going on by this stretch of road Wednesday morning. Guy was telling me about his missus getting knocked off her bike by a car which fled the scene the very same morning!!

Jackie and I nornmally pass down Merantum Way and were diverted at about 7.50 that day. I could see an ambulance down at the junction with High Path. Sorry we didn’t see anything. We assumed it was not serious as there have been no boards put up asking for witnesses. I suggest you write to http://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/ and try and publicise your call for witnesses. Try and get something in the Wandsworth and Wimbledon editions.
Hello, maybe that will help. Contact Merton and ask for CCTV footage. They may ask you to call police first on Data Proction Act. You must then ask police or solicitor to check cctv for you.

I would be very suprised if there was relevant CCTV as there is virtually no reason to have camera on that stretch of road - there isn’t even a footway.
