Hi!

Hi there. Just passed my DAS, and looking to sell my YBR125 (very tidy, beautiful condition!) for a Hornet or an SV650 soon. Also had my first off thanks to panic grabbing the front brake. Muppet. Live and learn etc.

Hi welcome to LB, you can ride for 20+ years and still do that,:Whistling:

congrats and welcome,

Glad it’s not just me then

Welcome to LB

I also have a YBR… and have a bad habit of panic grabbing everything

Hi  Welcome to LB

Panic grabbing everything ay…
Looks like you and me gota date

Welcome to LB

I like this place already

:blink::blink: Welocme To LB :hehe::hehe:

Welcome mate! Look forward to seeing pics of whatever bike you decide to get!

Now that begs the obvious “which bike?” question? Currently stuck between SV650 and a Hornet…

I had an SV, so obviously i would favour that…but the Hornet is good as well!

That did not help i know, so try a test drive on both. That would be the only way to decide.

Hornet (new one though) test rode last weekend, SV650 this weekend if the weather holds…

Right, an interesting day. Today I rode: Gladius, SV650S and V-Strom.

SV650S - nice engine, punchy power delivery as expected from V-Twin. But riding position seemed to cramped for me. The pegs felt too high and the bars were a weird half-way house or making me stretch a bit, but not enough to really tuck in. Thought I’d love it, but came away only 50/50.

Gladius. Sounded ace, even more torque than the SV650. Position was pretty good, though very little wind protection. Nice and easy to ride, felt ‘natural’. Donna sat on both this and SV, and preferred the position too. It seems to have everything I would want - naked, sounds ace, lots of grins and cheap.

V-Strom. Sales guy convinced me to try one. Same engine, good for commuting etc. Nice, tall, great position, great wind protection. Dull dull dull dull. Not why I want a bike. Perhaps as my second or third big bike, but not my first.

So. If it wasn’t for the looks, it would be the Gladius, hands down. Question is, can I handle the slightly soft looks of the Gladius for a well put together bike, or should I just bite the bullet and get a Monster?

ARGH! Help!

Selling my YBR if anyone is interested:

the Gladius looks a bit gay though…

How about i throw a spanner in the works and ask if you’ve considered the CBR600F. I know a lot of people on here it as their first big bike and they absolutely love it.
It might feel sporty/cramped to start with, but it’s a cracking machine. Well built and will last a lifetime.

Dont know much about the monster. Looks nice, but never ridden one.

Oh so THAT’S what the lever on the right does. I often wondered about that. I thought it was a spare clutch or something.

Did something really silly yesterday. Test rode a Street Triple at Metropolis. Arse. I can’t think about any other bike now. Gorgeous and more fun than anything else (including Hornet) by a country mile.

Now to figure out how to afford one…

Good call!

I just recently passed the DAS and was looking at similair bikes.

I’ve bought a CBR600F ABS, I’ve only had it a few weeks but I’m falling in love. I got my hands on one of the launch bikes with 250 miles on the clock and £1300 off the RRP.

Obviousley I don’t have much experience, but it’s a good compromise between comfort/fun for a beginner and I’ve found it really easy to ride, worth a look IMHO.
