I have a problem with my cd player and I want to know if it’s easly reapired or best buy a new one.
Press the button for the door to slide out and it comes out about 1" but the motor is still trying to push the door open, so I pull the door and it opens. Push the button to close the door and it works perfectly.
The cd player is one of the best ever made but it is 14 years old now, is it worth getting fixed or best replace it.
Naim ? I’d just live with it or send it back for repair. My Naim amp needs a new volume control but it’s been used most days for 10 years or so.

My old (14yrs) Meridian CD player is in the bedroom… If that every failed I would get it repaired… without doubt…
So what is it?
Sounds like an easy repair to me. Pobably needs a new arm or spring/elastic.
I would open it and try to replace it myself… It could even be a rubber belt that has worn off after 14 years
It doesn’t sound fatal so unless repairs are lots of money, I’d get it repaired.
I detest the throw away society so I’d:
1: Open it up and see if it’s something simple and fix it.
2: If it’s not an easy fix, live with it.
3: Get a quote for getting it fixed.
If you junk it, there are charities that recycle this stuff or they give it to someone that will put up with the minor glitch. Please don’t just bin it.

I took the player apart and checked everything and the mechanisum is perfect just needed a bit of a clean so alls well now as the dorr works properly again.

The door is playing up again and I rang Marantz about it and they said I could send the player to them and they will repair it but it would cost about £100, so I’m going to buy the Marantz CD6002 which is ment to be brilliant once my old player has given up altogether.
Try a Naim CD player
If i could afford one i would but the cheapest is £850.
There’s not much on eBay right now but item 180291433970 would be great.

Depends what you want and how much you want to pay. I have NAD stuff because that’s as good as it gets until you want to pay 4 figures for Arcam, Naim etc. For ages I’ve had NAD 524 CD, NAD C340 amp, AE-1 speakers and can’t imagine upgrading unless I move into somewhere much bigger.
I like the look of the big Naim amp, nice bipolar output transistor, don’t like the £14k price tag much lol.
