Hi every one!

Hi there every one!

My name is Charlene! I am absolute beginner when it comes to motorcycles but I have alway been interested in them and it been a life long dream to own one! My brother has had one for the most few years and I’ve always been really jealous. So I thought why can’t I have one too? I’ve recently completed my CBT and soon enough I will take the theory and practical test! Now the question is what sort of bike do I get?
I thought the best way for me to this find out is by joining this forum! I was hoping to get some advice on the best type of insurance etc… but first of all what sort of bike is more suitable for a woman?

Can’t wait to start talking to you all!

Cheers!

Hi Bikergal, wanna go for a ride sometime, we can also go out on the bikes too:D welcome to LB

Dirty bastid rob!

Hello and welcome to the funny-farm

hello, welcome.

this place is full of pervs who cannot stop thinking about get sex.

Its just banter, dont worry.

Only one bike

hahhaahha thanks for the welcome.

and I think this bike is maybe a little out of my price range.:w00t:

well that model is 2005 and they are robust and wicked as anything. Not knowing your budget, £2000-4000 can get you a good one, but maybe not black!

whats your vital statistics?..mainly length of legs and build, most women prefer light bikes with a low seat height and being a novice something not too lively on the throttle:Whistling:.

personally i’d look at grey import ‘japanese market’ bikes as they are usually smaller in size and cc’s

you can get things like

suzuki bandit 400

honda vtr 250

honda cbr 250

honda vfr 400

these should be reasonably priced and easy to ride, mind the sportier ones will obviously be dearer on the insurance too

rgv250

2 stroke ftw

i have been looking at these alot recently…they’re fetching some serious cash some in excess of 3 grand ,theres a few nice nsr250’s on ebay too,but i would’nt think a peaky 2 smoker would be ideal for a novice but certainly a great bike for the lanes on a sunday blast:cool:

They are awesome to ride and you can get some sick-ass body kits for em.

IIRC my mate who learnt on one said it was awesome as a learner bike beacuse the power-band is rather late on the rgv, which means you’re not kangarooing about as much…

Other than that I can vouch for the reliability of all the 400’s you listed, in particular the honda’s.

The honda bros 400 is an excellent bike!

hello and welcome to the forum. A 600cc will do fine for a first big bike

Hello and welcome

Honda Hornet 600 all the way … more than enough power for several years of learning, lots of fun, and pretty low on insurance. They’re getting more and more popular around here!

Yeah your right I don’t want any thing too wild for my first bike, I have no clue what the length of my legs are at the moment, but I’ about 5"7 and of slim build.

Just had a look at some of the bikes you suggested…

Such a pretty bike! or maybe this one…

???

Ello Charlene,

I’m on a Honda CBR125 will be taking DAS eventually. I’m only 5ft 4 so I find it hard to find bikes that fit. To be honest I think you should just go to a showroom and try a couple before you settle for anything. I’m looking at various bikes from street to sport. Bikes like Ducati Monster and GSXR 600 are good because they fit me (i.e. feet flat on the ground). But as I said, try before you buy

In terms of insurance I always recommend the price comparisson site tiger.co.uk I got a really good deal compared to what I was getting over the phone.

Look forward to meeting you

Nice try! Just ignore him and other LB pervs/sluts - you get to know them over time, Charlene

The only way to find out what suits you is to try different bikes. Decide on what you like the look of (tourer, sports bike, supermoto etc.), figure out what kind of riding you’ll be doing (commuting, weekend touring etc.) and test ride. I’m a fan of naked bikes so I tried a Monster, XJ6, ER6n and Hornet. I quickly learned that the Monster was way too small for my height (although I loved the way it handled), the XJ6 felt nice but a bit bland and boring, the Hornet is lovely and great fun to ride. I settled on the ER6n because it’s easy to ride, light, plenty of grunt, cheap to insure and run and a good commuter.

Oh, and welcome to LB

Hi  Welcome to LB  I think you should go for a Kawasaki 636 in pink     Just cos they are the best :stuck_out_tongue:

The Kawasaki 636 in pink would be awesome! :hehe: Thanks for the advice every one! I’m going to try and make my way to show room this weekend if not then as soon as possible! Can any one suggest any how rooms I should go to , located around east London? :Wow:

Welcome to LB. i’d go sooner if I were you as anything of value in east London will probably have burned down by the weekend.:stuck_out_tongue:
