had a right inguinal operation 2 weeks ago, went back to work yesterday ( service engineer/ heavy engineering ) and have had to stay off work today due to pain whilst driving. Any one here had any problems with getting back to work after a Hernia , as most people i met yesterday said they did not work for 4 to 6 weeks. ???
Had an umbilical hernia. Was told to take two weeks off then take it very easy for at least a month.
Had the same op in Nov 2003,off work for about 6 weeks and light duties till Hospital cleared me to work properly again,sounds like you went back too soon to me.
I dont suppose you want to hear that I had a hernia op a few years back and then did a 25 day trek through the Himalayas with no problems around 3-4 weeks after. Was walking the same day I had it… I was told too…
I did have the sort of plastic mesh type thing not the NHS one…

funny you should say that. had a second one when in OZ, had sex that same day lol, I think the painkillers worked a treat lol!
Yeah. And my wife was pregnant again by the time she left hospital with our first born.
'course, the bonking in the delivery suit caused a bit of a stir.
Had to find a new hospital the next time around. Couldn’t keep up with the nurses demands.
