Help with GSXR1000 'exup' valve

My K9 GSXR1000 has a really squeaky sounding set / exup valve which is starting to annoy.
Does anyone know how to disable it and if doing so will it bring up an F1 warning light on the dash or put the bike into a stupid ‘emergency’ mode when riding?

Any help is appreciated. Cheers.

its possible to remove the cables and leave it in the open position. do a google search regarding changing the exhaust and you should be able to find out which pin you need to remove from the ecu to disable the fault light for the exhaust valve. or try a site that stocks yoshimura as they usually come with said instructions

Thanks Matt, I’ll get trawling the web, cheer for the yoshi tip, never thought of that. I dont really want to remove the valve or mechanism, I just wanted to find out if I could unplug something from the ECU which just knocks out the valve and leaves it in the open position without any side effects.

Cheers

You don’t have to remove the Valve just disconnect the two cable and wire lock the valve in the open poss. I leave the cables near just cable tied out of the way. :)(and do the ECUbit)

You can also manually close the valve for Track-day noise testing.

Try this link

Thanks all, looks simple enough.

cheers

Won’t leaving the exup open knock out your mid-range somewhat?

No it’s not really an exup valve, all it does is keep the noise down at slow speeds.

Rip it out as soon as possible then!
