Help with Alarm-Disc-Locks

Hello,

I have an old Vespa scooter which I have just acquired a lock for from eBay Italy. The picture+video in the auction just used a normal padlock however I would like to use an alarmed lock instead to deter thieves.

This is the lock: (it works by padlocking the hole.)

Could anyone measure their alarm locks and tell me what they use to see whether it might fit before I go buy one?

The steel is 5mm thick and the hole has a diameter of 14mm (so obviously any bar that goes through it needs to be 13mm diameter or smaller)

I really like the Oxford Boss disc locks which look just like a hefty bright yellow padlock so those might work, although I have also considered standard disc locks which look like staplers - such as the Xena one, or even the yellow Hein Gericke Performance one (I have a 50 pound HG voucher). But have no idea what would fit. Will try to get myself down to HG at some point to see if they will open a package for me but if I know what I’m working with from the start that would be great.

Thanks!

Xena XN10 sounds ideal

Just had a look on their website, it’s got dimensions and yes, it looks good =D

Cheers mate!

EDIT: don’t know why I didn’t check the manufacturer websites first! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d go for the XX14 if it would fit your bike. The XN/XR series uses LR44 button type batteries which go dead after a month! I only replaced mine for a set of maxells last month and it’s not starting to struggle. It clicks and beeps when you apply the lock. I’ve got the XR1 which uses the same circuitry as the XN10 so it’ll go duff pretty quickly if it’s left out in the cold.

I have found the Xena alarms last much longer with quality batteries. Cheap LR44s last a couple of months but branded last 6 months or more. EBay has some very good deals on LR44s
