OK ive got 1,794 files [pics & videos] to put on disc in total 5.5 gig to give to people
apart from splitting them up onto about 6 discs is there any other way of doing it ?

Memory sticks? (not really sure what sizes they come in though)
DVD is 4.5 gig…maybe if you zip/rar the files it’ll fit
Can you host it online and let people burn it themselves? Something like flickr for the pics and youtube for the vids.
Go the memory sticks route if you can afford it. People are still impressed by being given one of those.
I used to get several discs each week when I was working. Mostly went straight in the bin as “another b****y disc.”
put it on one memstick and get them to pass it round after uploading to comp 
or get a dual layer or doublesided dvd-r and burn it on to that
I would say get single side duel layer dvd-r i think there about 8.5 gig.

do these dvd discs play or read on any cd rom drive ? as i am worried people wont be able to open them
the disk cannot be read by cdrom drives. Most dvd drives of the last five years should be able to read them.

And before you ask . . . no, your Betamax tapes won’t play on Blueray players either ! ;)
memory sticks is the obvious route to take here really.
First, you need a double layer burner, which if you had, you would probably know you had, since they cost more then a normal DVD player/burner. Secondly you need special discs to burn in those drives and you would have to buy them special anyway.

8gig drives starting from £14 and that was the FIRST link from Google. Which you can use again and again and again for various different things, rather then the burners, which I don’t think you can get re-writable double layers just yet anyway, and even if you did DVDs won’t last as long as memory sticks or be as versatile or as quick. Far quicker to transfer 5 gig then it is to burn 5gig.
just be careful about sharing mem sticks as viruses can be passed from one pc to another - best to upload them online and let ppl take them.
there are too many to upload, it took us 4 hrs to go through them last night deleting the ones we wanted and needed to delete, they are being copied as we speak on discs 2 sets already done, only another 12 sets to do ffs

Remove all the out of focused one then they should fit on one cd
