help needed

Hey guys, firstly thanks for all the help i got last time. New subject, after my big crash (the broken hand one) and a couple of low speed offs because of the ice (all 15mph or under) all of which happened on the right side my exhaust has taken a beating, it looked fine but apparently the bolt was damaged and on the way home yday came off and the exhaust pipe under the bike snapped almost in 2 (sigh!!!) i managed to botch job the exhaust can with some cable ties so that it wouldnt fall off and got home. Havent had a chance to speak to my mechanic yet because theyre shut today (double **** sigh). I know it’ll probably cost abit to get a new exhaust pipe in (my cans fine apart from minor scratches i think).

However what i want to know is, is it safe for me to ride untill i can get the pipe fixed as long as my exhaust is securely attached to my bike (put a new bolt in today).

The pipe is snapped directly under the petrol tank so all the exhaust gases are just coming straight out the pipe and my bike is sounding like a mix between a cruiser and tug boat lol.

Please get back to me on this, im off to go get a taxi to work to be safe, thanks guys!

can ya get a pic of the break?

might give us a bit more of an idea.

As a temporary fix you could try the following;get an old tin can, remove the bottom, split it in half, smear the inside with some exhaust sealant stuff from Halfords, wrap it round the pipe where the pipe is holed/coming apart and fasten with a jubilee clip on either end and tighten the jubilee clips.

It will hold the thing together and cut down on noise exhaust leakage until you gety it fixed. Wot I did on my old Bandit.

Yep, as NinjaJunkie says, but the best sealant here would be silicon (sometimes called RTV). It will act a bit like glue, and it will allow a little flex without leaking. Don’t worry about the temperature … trust me, it will take it!

i ask for pic as would be surprised if anything has snapped just wondering if you have lost a clamp and it is just a case of that so has come loose.
