Help Needed Please

LB’ers I need your help…

This is the score boys and girls, the front break on my bike has seazed(I think that is how you spell it) this would answer alot or question as to why my bike has been performing poorly… Basically is there anyone out there that may be free either tomorrow night or this comming weekend to help me… I have no idea how to repair it and I have no money to put it into a garage…

In case I’m wrong (which I’m sure I’m not) as I got back home tonight I could barely push the bike by hand, I had to serioulsy rev the bike to get speeds of 30mph!! would also explain a funny smell and why in low revs it would almost conk out unless I drop a gear…

So if there is anyone that can help please PM me, I live just outside Bromley… Thanks
in advance…

Sleeper, try taking the caliper off the forks, leave everything attatched etc so it hanging on the brake line, take the cap off the resevoir and then see if ya can squeeze the pistons in the caliper back, may have to take the pads out, i normally do this with a g clamp but put something between clamp and piston. may loosen it off a bit but obviously is a reason why seized.

Are your pads ok? wondered if totally worn thus yer calipers are way out.

Stop riding the bike! You could warp your disc as well as mess the calipers up. Discs are expensive to replace and a pain to do. I’ve just replaced my rear disc, stripped and cleaned caliper as well. Disc was below tolerances and I thought I would do the caliper at the same time.

Take caliper off, remove pads, pump lever and get pistons out. Get some brake cleaner and give it a good squirt with the stuff. use an old toothbrush to give the pistons a really good clean. Squirt some more brake cleaner on them. Dry them off. Smear with some light lithium grease. Now get two plumbers wrenches (cover the teeth with gaffer tape or you will damage caliper!) and open the bleed nipple. Squeeze one piston while holding the other in place. Get both pistons back flush into the caliper. Put pads back in, refit to caliper, bleed brakes though. Should be okay for a while.

I’m in Abbey Wood, so not all that far from you, but am too busy during the week to be able to help.

yer it only starter to sieze on the way hope and I managed to get home I’m not going to have a chance to look at it tomorrow thanks for this though like the theory but not to sure about doing this myself as it is quiet a major thing if I get it wrong…

But I will give it a crack this weekend, thanks makman

heard you the first time! lol
