Helmet paint

Going to have a go at spraying one of my old helmets. I am not doing anything fancy I just want to paint it a solid red colour.

What paint should I use and is it readily available?

I’d give a helmet sprayer a call and just ask them because some paints can react with helmets materails and weaken them.

Only if its an injection moulded polycarbonate (Lexan) resin helmet. If its a GRP/Composite lid you can use any paint on it. Not sure about Hammerite though;)

What about the polystyrene inside ? That’s affected by all sorts of chemicals. Would you take that out before painting it ?

Masking the holes up usually suffices:cool:
