Helmet & Leathers Insurance

With my insurance poilcy I have helmet & leather insurance - they’ve sent me a form etc and want to see pictures of said damaged items, my jacket is scuffed & covered in earth etc but not ripped or anything and a few bits on my boots flew off somewhere such as heel guard & toe sliders etc and they got a bit scuffed - helmet got smashed in quite well so as the jacket & boots on got scuffed etc will they still pay out for new ones or do they have to be completely ruined?

You could always go to your local bike shop and take pictures of nice new leathers and boots etc:D

Or find someones crash ripped leathers and send pics off:Whistling:

You can use mine and I already have pictures:D

Ta! I discussed it with a couple of blokes at work who had also crashed and I’ve got a pic of some wrecked boots now

I though they would only pay out if you claim as part of a crash, so bike and gear at the same time… and you gotta show that you were wearing them at the time?

Yeah was part of a crash that wasnt my fault - Im not just claiming for new gear for the sake of it

If they sent the forms for the crashed gear, does this mean they are going to pay out for the bike? Or havent you heard yet?

Alright Mel - funny you should say that, got a letter from HSBC today and they said they are far from convinced that no liability will be found to rest with me?!

On the form I said I was probably doing around 40mph (bare in mind it was a 60mph road) and they said that from looking at the pics this was too fast for the bend & I should have ridden as fast as I could see and particulary on country roads there could have been a child or an animal so luckily my policy has legal cover as standard because what they sent me was a load of BU**SH*T! The speed limit was 60mph, no warning of a tight bend not that it caused me any problems anyway apart from the R6 that was on the floor as I went round it ha ha :stuck_out_tongue:

Wotcha Mark - Mel just pointed me towards this thread - have you sought advice from a good bike-specific solicitors?

White Dalton are all barristers and ALL ride motorbikes - they have two arms - one is a personal injury firm and the other deals exclusively with bike crashes - the latest edition of Fast Bikes mag has a bit on them.

Fingers crossed fella

Cheers mate, not yet I havent - I’ve got legal expenses on my policy so Im going to speak to Bikesure 1st thing on Monday to get the ball rolling. Its one thing them looking at a picture and assuming that I was going too fast and that their could have been an animal or a child then theirs them actually doing their job and looking at it properley

I hate insurance companies and its only just begun!
