Helllpp!!! Fuel cap & battery!

Hi all

I wondered if someone could give me some advice…

I picked up my Honda Hornet today and have fallen in love…hehehe! I bought the bike from a reputable dealer but it had been sat there for quite some time. They put on new brakes, tyres, and supplied a new battery. Unfortunately it seems the battery is dead because I couldnt start it when I left work today but my biker-colleague helped me push start it. At risk of not being able to re-start it if I stopped en-route home I didnt stop for petrol or check the fuel level.

So…I’m now home with the bike. I went to check the fuel and have found the key hole corroded and I cant get it open. Will WD40 do the trick or is there something else I can do??? I’m sure the dealer will supply a new one free of charge. A tad annoyed this wasnt checked but I suppose it’s not something they’d necessarily think to do???

Also, will one of these: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7402120.htm help me out with starting it or are they more aimed at cars and likely to fry something?

Cheers

Phil

wd40 wont do any harm, that’s for sure. Best get some proper penetrating oil though. No guarantee it’ll work though.

some1 seems a bit naive to me, sorry.

new battery, pads et but the batt goes dead and the fuel cap is rusted? did they not fill it up with petrol the time they had it?

you sure they put new stuff on or did thsy just tell you that? also why is he reputable? nor saying they aint, just asking.

Unfortunately the new battery is dead !? and they couldn’t be exspected to check the filler !?..get tough. take it back and let em know you are not happy at least.
I Think if it was me in your possition i would be seriously considering kicking someone in the nuts .( twice )

That’s really sh1t - sending you off on a bike that you can’t even open the petrol cap on - ask them to explain themselves.

Makes you wonder what else might be lurking :w00t:
