Dear All, thought I’d invite you all along to this:
On Sunday the 17th May, I’ll be taking a little ride from Heathrow down to Boxhill, for a bacon roll, then on to the coast for an ice-cream! In-between eating, I’m hoping we’ll have great weather for a fun ride. I’ll plan a nice route cross country. Meeting point is the lay-by in Airport Way (A3113) off Junction 14 of the M25 (the T4 turn off) at 0915 for an 0930 start. We should be home in time for tea… but I can’t promise!
The reason for the motorbike ride is to take a collection, in support of the ‘9th annual Fireflies ride’ which is happening between the 16-24th June 2009. This is 8 Gruelling days of bicycling from Geneva to Cannes, a 1000km journey across the French Alps, all in aid of Leuka (www.leuka.org.uk). I have a couple of friends riding in this arduous challenge and as I’m too fat to join them (too many bacon rolls and ice-cream) I’d like to support them by raising awareness of their cause.
All I ask is that anyone who turns up for our jolly jaunt to the coast, puts a minimum contribution of just £2 in the tin. Or if you’d like to donate directly go to http://www.thefirefliesride.com/donate.htm where you’ll also be able to find out more about their ride across the Alps!
Please pass the message on to any other motorcyclist you know, who would like to join us, the more the merrier! Please just turn up on the day…!
