The heat shielding strips in my fairings are falling out, anyone else experienced this? The dealer is wanting to charge me £55 for labour for 2 hours to fix. Is it quite easy to take off the fairings off a R6 and changing them myself? Cheers for the advice/help.
Are you sure it’s heat shielding and not just sound absorbing foam? If it just foam, then it won’t have any significant heat shielding properties, so you may as well remove it altogether.
When I had to replace a fairing panel after an accident, the foam was extra, so I didn’t bother…and that was at least 10,000 miles ago, and there’s certainly no heat damage to the paint.
As for fitting…if you know how to use a screw driver, then stop being a blooming pansy, and do it yourself.
No it’s silver duct tape like coming off.
Well, the heat shielding is probably self-adhesive, so just ensure the fairing surface is chemically clean prior to application. Sounds like a doddle of a job to me.
do it do it do tit err it!
Can buy various self adhesive heat reflective products from Demon Tweeks, Rally Design, Merlin Motorsport etc.
