Heard something interesting about rear facing average speed cameras...

I had a meeting the other day, turned out to be the property of a guy who has worked and developed speed cameras. His representative informed me that pending approval is a design for an average speed camera designed to read number plates from the back to catch motorcycles…

Even more reason to stay off motorways but sucks either way!!

It was always going to come down to this.

You should have laid a turd on his pillow before leaving !

When using a bike is effectively outlawed, only outlaws will use bikes.

Motorways were completely monitored so we got our kicks on A roads.
Then they started monitoring all the A roads so we bought a supermoto and rode the B roads.
Then they worked out how to match the bike that arrived in Peterboro in 69 minutes with the one that left London earlier. So we put on a cloned number plate.
Then they worked out how to do clothing recognition so we started wearing all black and wearing a V for Vendetta mask.

For a while there, getting rid of the traffic police and relying on the technology turned most of the country into a biker’s playground. And relying on the congestion charge cameras meant a radical increase in untaxed, uninsured cars with fake plates. But they’re catching on. The window is closing. Can we stay ahead of the curve?

I can’t say I’m suprised. Also heard that averge speed camera’s will soon cover greater distances being linked via bluetooth. Currently the are linked via cable, which is limited due to signal degretation.

Bluetooth only has a maximum range of 100m, so that wouldn’t work terribly well.

Pity, I can keep inside the average speed for about 100 metres. It’s the longer distances that cause the problem.

Latest bluetooth technologies have seen Bluetooth ranges boosted to allow for large packets of info (Think PDF brochures/ Video captures) to be sent up to 1000m … yes 1KM with almost 99% guaranteed success…

Should you be equally geeky and want to know more:

Whilst this is great if you want to ‘e-flyer’ a chunk of a city to promote your club or bar… its less so if its used to send your reg number and required details down the line to the next camera before you even get there!!! :w00t:

Wouldnt it be terrible if the nation were to rise up against such a plan and in say, 2 minutes, make a blue peter style device to combat such things?.. That WOULD be terrible… :stuck_out_tongue:

It’d be even worse if such devices were detailed and set out on t’internet for ANY tom dick or harry to see…

Anyone remember the original Itallian job where such ‘devices’ were dropped off near the traffic lights they wanted to scramble?

Of course… id NEVER condone such actions… that would be the actions of the unspeaking, unthinking minority that would…

That’s not the worst of it I’m afraid.

The powers that be are also investing in cat’s eyes cameras that face up out of the ground and read every plate that passes by.

You won’t even know there’s a camera there.

and cleaned under your forskin with his tooth brush:D

Well this would’ve been done and more but unfortunately his representative was C.I.D…:ermm:
