Headlamp bulbs

Having reviewed the phots fropm the rin, particularly interested in this one:-

just realised by bulb was gone, (also spotted it this morning when I started bike for run into work).

Would like to put a brighter bulb in, I know there may be loom and heat issues, any views ie blue type bulbs better etc.

dont go crazy on the wattage of the bulbs, comes back to same old thing of wiring on bike designed for everything that was fitted as standard, think your bike has 55w as standard, so going to around 75watt shouldnt cause too many issues, but going to 120w may do in time especially as most of us tend to have lights on all the time

before fitting brighter bulb have a check over things like headlight aim (whilst seated on bike), cleanliness of inside of headlight lense and silver reflector in back of headlight if you can dismantle it safely, and electrical connections, any green or white deposits on wiring connections (particulary on plug on back of headlight) can stop the bulb recieving the power it needs, clean up terminals with wire brush and contact cleaner spray/wd40 and you may be plesantly surprised with the result

used to have cbr6 and wasnt overly impressed with headlight, think it is one of the few chinks in the machines armour, tried some expensive ring blue tinted bulbs in it but couldnt really notice a difference

hope thats helpfull mate

They’re hard to find, but I once had a 55/100W headlamp bulb - on dip it’s the same as standard, but full beam is much brighter than before. Assuming you don’t use full beam most of the time you shouldn’t have any problems. I didn’t.

I don’t ride at night that much these days and the headlamp on my hornet is very good with the standard bulb so I don’t bother with nonstandard bulbs now.

I bought some blue power bulbs and they are crap. Xenon is the only way forward but it’s quite dear
