Are you still a courier now?
no and no

Me neither. Sorry.
Nope. Nope.

had the pleasure of riding from ace to lecister square with him and a couple of couriers… have to say that was an eye opener.
I was a courier in the early/mid 90’s.I worked both as a contract and non-contract rider during that time. Started off riding ‘plastic maggots’, the good old CX500. I also bought my first ‘big’ bike, a CX650. That was a great bike. The last bike I used was a VFR750. Seems I had (and still have) a Honda fixation!!
The city’s somewhat different now than it was back then. I remember having late jobs when all that was around were black cabs and buses. It was like a ghost town after 7pm.
I was probably too safe to be a brilliant courier. I’d rather slow down and lose a couple of jobs than ride like a mentally for that few extra quid:D
I was courier for two years and a Taxibike rider for one year. Only had three accidents in that time (riding 9-10 hours a day)
was fun days especially as a taxibike rider…had Hellena Christensen on the back and Melinda Messenger (heavy on the front brakes)
Yes & Yes
Why, would you like someone to deliver you a sence of humour ? :P:)
Lol, sure - I could do with two ![]()
I worked for Hornets Despatch (Teddington) in the early 90’s
Good old CX500’s…
I did 2 summers/autumns then realised that I wouldn’t live long if I did another year… I just remember coming home filthy everyday…

 errr…I was once a pizza courier…
I was a bike courier in the mid 90s, but based in High Wycombe working for Chiltern Couriers. It wasn’t too bad. The London curcuit, which I did in a van, is much tougher.
ive thought about doing courier work but im a little scared that i wont make anough money to pay my bills
There was a lady on here who was doing a diary of starting a courier job… I can’t remember who it was though unfortunately, otherwise it would be easier to find the thread… Getting on well she was too - I wonder how she’s got on since, haven’t seen the thread for ages.
it would be interesting yo read it!
ive always wanted to do courier work so i could do perminant days and your always in a different place and not stuck in a office block

Dani.
I recently called Reuter Brooks (the company she works for) and asked about a job as a trainee courier. I was told that the company was taken over earlier this year as it was ’ haemoraging money ’ and that they couldn’t afford to ’ babysit ’ anyone.
Called a couple of other companies and it seems they require people to have a good knowledge of London roads/ courier experience; quite reasonable really.
City Sprint have a ‘knowledge’ test like taxi drivers have to take.
One company quite bluntly recommended that I make my mistakes with a smaller firm before thinking of applying for work with them :D.
