Have to get rid of the dog

Well Neo is actually my girlfriend’s dog which she has had since he was a small pup. He’s 9 years old now.

As we’re moving into rented accomodation soon, and nowhere it seems allows dogs (well not at the budget we can afford), we have to find Neo a new home :crying:

He’s such a barrel of laughs, really energetic and loves being around people, especially kids. He lives with two cats and likes them (well he puts up with them), but can sometimes get a bit aggressive around other big dogs…He likes smaller dogs.

I don’t know that much about dogs, but his birth certificate says he’s a Golden Retriever, but we think that’s wrong as he looks more like a Labrador. We think he might be crossed between the two.

He’s already been put on the waiting list for the Dog’s Trust, but I just thought I’d post up here to see if there were any LBers that could offer him a good home.

It’s going to be gutting to see him go either way, and I know my girlfriend will be heartbroken when he does :frowning:

Some pictures…

That"s very sad…Hope you find a good home for him… I dont think I could give him up after such a long time…

We were lucky, the place we rent lets us keep the dog but most of that is cause we reminded them that dogs are good alarm systems and bite intruders.

Good luck with it m8. Having to give a pet away feels the same as them going to ‘doggy heaven’! :frowning:

Sorry that you have to give the dog away.

Sorry to hear that fella - can imagine it’ll be tough saying good bye!

I’ve posted a note on my facebook status for you… Hope you find a good home for him!

Afro - give these people a try - I am a member on there ( we got our German Shepard rescue through there in Feb ) it is " primarily a German Shephard rescue sire however there are always other breeds on there too - May be an idea for you to ease the pain of having to give the dog up ( something I don’t think I could ever do somehow ) - respect for you doing what is best for the dog though dude - not many good people out there that think of the dog first unfortunately .

I am sure you will have some fortune through the above site buddy and good luck - my heart goes out to you

If I didn’t already have these two muppets I would happily " foster " Neo for you until something could be sorted

aww. nice dog aswell shame.:frowning:

Cheers guys…I’ve only known Neo for a couple of years but he feels like my own dog now…Feel for my girlfriend as it will be a lot harder to give him up for her :frowning:

Careful, she might choose the dog instead of you:w00t:

sad to hear this m8…but let me ask my other half, he’s got a female staff and she seems to get on with bigger dogs…he keeps saying he wants to get another dog, he might refuse but it’s worth a try:)

I would, no way would I give my dog up - Grim would bite the dust first

:D:D How could you…!!!:hehe:

Agreed!

Cheers mate…Send him the link to this thread.

sorry hun, can’t do that, he is not a LB…I will see him tonight and speak to him then let you know:)

Dont understand how you can give up part of your family.

You mean you’ve never thought about trading your kids or mrs in?

No Debz, that was an awful thing to want to do to Grim;)

Then who would make my tea and fetch me the remote?

my dog had to have a bath last night as he had spend the whole day in the rain chasing the boys mucking about on the quads and things…he is a black and white jacky…but got home totally black…think i may have blocked the bath with silt and mud…

Afro, I would have loved to have your dog…he would have been well looked after…but barney wont have any other dog in the house…I like labradors a lot…
