Has anyone had an accident in the carpark, at Chiltern Gateway Centre?

As the title states … Or know on anyone that has, due to the rubber surface?

Please PM me.

Did you have an off there zine?? Hope not - particularly given your R1 is a beast of a machine…

Sad but true … saturday afternoon, just after it started raining.

Left side a right mess :frowning:

:frowning: gutted for you mate… Were you ok? I presume the surface a state then and you are speaking to the owners of the car park? Hard to take positives away from it I know, but if its only panels then thats some consolation i guess…

Thanks … I walked away with minor injuries, leg & back bruised. Thank goodness for back protector and full leathers.

I’ve spoken to a solicitor, for advice on taking further action.

I’ll post pics of the damage to my bike.

Sorry to hear that - glad you walked away with only minor injuries. Hope you are feeling better.:)

ouch - and crash knobs did Sweet F**k All!

Ouch!!!

Hope your bruises heal up quickly. Shame about the bike.

oh dude! :frowning:

that looks sore mate looks like the bike took a heavy drop, hope your not too bashed up fella.

Ouch, crash bungs didn’t do a very good job!! Hope you not too badly hurt.

Thanks for your concerns

I was thrown hi-side, off the bike and landed onto my back & left side. Still very sore and stiff, but no major damage. Should be okay in a few weeks.

Shame about the R1 :crying:

Not too happy with the poor performance of the crash knobs, given I was only doing about 5mph.
I’ll be having words with R&G!!!

First thing I thought was that those bungs have failed to do anything at all, especially at a low speed drop. My R&G’s did a brilliant job at a 15mph drop due to diesel. Hope you get things fixed up quickly and easily and heal fast. Good gear does make a difference, especially a back protector.

Crash bungs do absolutely sod all, seen a few bikes now where they’ve actually caused more damage, I won’t be fitting them again

I’ve been in contact with R&G, and awaiting a reply. I’ll let you know what they say.

I thought the crash protectors would have worked at such slow speed :ermm:

Sorry to hear of your off and b*gger me those R&G’s just folded didn’t they? I’ve got them on all our bikes, I’m now wondering why??

I hope you get her fixed up and gain contributions from Chiltern Gateway and R&G!

I showed this to a few lads who ride in work who all have r&g on their bikes… and they were stunned! I guess that for the price you pay, you’d expect the screws to be rigid enough to withstand a lowspeed off…i guess the only way they would fold like that was if the front left handside of the bike hit the deck first and then the bike slid along the road?that said, they shouldnt do that!! Will be keen to see what R&G say though…

Sorry to hear of this, I hope you and your bike get better soon.

I would say the bungs clearly absorbed quite an impact, and to me it seems likely that if they hadn’t been there the damage to you and your bike would have been a lot worse. They probably saved you damage worth in excess of what you paid for them.

That said, I hope you are successful in getting Chiltern Gateway and/or P&H to reimburse you the cost of repairs.

bloody hell mate !!! and it was in lovely condition saturday on rideout :w00t:

not good about the bungs mate, was looking in this months perfomance bikes and they tested loadsa bungs and R&G got good review :w00t:

send them a pic of yours mate see what they say

Just to keep you updated … Have spoken with Solicitors this morning, and early indications are positive. They will be investigating the claim for me, and will advise over the next few days. :satisfied:

Sorry to hear about your off - that surface looks particularly dodgy, however the bungs did a reasonable job, IMHO, in the cicumstances.

Looks like your fairing is scratched, but not cracked, fixtures all seem to be ok and can’t tell, but hope your footrest and gear change are intact too.

That type of surface is not what most bikes fall on (tarmac), as I’m sure you know, so the bungs won’t be designed to function on that that peculiar road surface.

Hope you fix up soon, and get some cash back from the idiots who designed that car park surface.

Just for info - R&G bungs or other similar types are actually frame sliders, not crash bungs, or the like, since it’s the frame they are designed to protect, not your plastics. It costs a fortune to replace a frame (bike is a write off) but not plastics (well maybe that’s not so true these days). This is particularly true when running a bike racing team, where the fairing and other small bits n pieces are comparetively cheap.
