Harlesden / Willesden Junction – S**t Hole or Under Rated?

I’ve just had an offer accepted on a house near Willesden Junction tube and train station (about a 5 min walk to the station. It’s off the high street, it’s a lovely house, ticks all the boxes for me and my girlfriend….

I was just wondering if anyone on here works or lives around there and can give the low down on the area? I’m currently living around Manor House/Finsbury Park, I know that Harlesden and Willesden Junction are not the most affluent areas, which is similar to where I am… I went up on the bike on Sat and Sun evening after viewing the house and it wasn’t like the place was a war zone, there were a lot of kids around, but similar to most high-streets…

I was just wondering if anyone out there has got any comments on the area??

Many Thanks!

I always cringe when I go through Harlesden… but that just me… :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s known as “Bandit” territory to black cab drivers. As in wear a bullet proof vest after 9pm. They don’t like going there and as for picking up there, they won’t. Think of it as being a step up from Manor house/Finsbury park and not a step up for the better & you will get some idea. Watch yourself if out late by the tube station, plenty of muggings. All the above info comes from an elderly lady that has lived there for 30 years & works with me. Me being an Islington boy, knows Manor house/Finsbury park very well.

The part you are describing is nowhere near Harlesden and it is fine. It is up the road from Brondesbury and Queens Park which are both very affluent areas.

PM me the location and I’ll see if I’m familiar with it.

i lived on The Avenue behind brondesbury park station for a year or so but that was back in the 90’s.

Never had any problems at all BUT would i live anywhere Kilburn now…?

NO CHANCE

far too coccooned and comfy in kent now

When you say Willesden Junction station, do you mean the one that the Bakerloo serves which is actually called Willesden Junction and is indeed Harlesden or the one on the Jubilee line which is called Willesden Green which people seem to think you mean ?

Ex Harlseden girl myself, spent 20 years of my life there

blimey he’ll NEVER move there now… :stuck_out_tongue:

Cheeky bugger

also spent last “few” :Whistling: years in Hayes

Harlesden used to have a very bad vibe years ago, more so as you went towards Stonebridge. I remember being on a the 18 bus whilst a gang of youths were steaming the bus and nicking handbags. Then they tried turning the bus over. But there are worse places. I lived in Loughborough Junction for 5 years and it took me ages to get the hang of it. But there are even worse places! Queens Road Peckham and Homerton get my vote. Everywhere else is a holiday.

I just finished selling 59 units (flats) in NW10 8LB (Stonebridge Park - Hillside) so I have a certain understanding of the property market around there… Since September 2008 when I started, only 2 people got gun down within 1/2 mile radius… Clearly and improvement on the past…

Its 5 mins walk from the bakerloo and overland station, so willesden junction… away from harlesden and stonebridge…

Sh*t hole. I recall the blood running down the gutter near the high street as a Police van blocked the junction with blue lights and Police line tape everywhere. That was a few years back. The more recent story of a man (clearly mentally ill) who killed a minicab driver with his bare hands after a road rage incident and then killed another man (bare hands) who tried to intervene. He then broke in to a cafe, made a cup of tea while watching Eastenders while he waited for the Police to come and arrest him.

Messed up gaf.

hi

i work right opposite willesden junction station in a bike and car mot station and for 14 years never had a problem.

Most people around here are ok , maybe because we are in the same boat.

When you here about people getting shot its allways to do with drugs.

Not sure if i fancy walking about at night but i dont fancy doing that anywhere anymore.

Welcome to Harlesden , stay away from the bad men with drugs and you will be fine.

Brian

Harlesden yesterday. . .

Only joking ;):stuck_out_tongue:

People always bring up some random crimes but they happen everywhere, just look at the case where that seemingly normal professional guy living in Chelsea had to get killed by police because he had a gun and was shooting at neightbours/family (can’t remember the story now but you get my drift :pinch: )

… but never quite got the hang of the spelling. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a soft spot for Harlesden, happy memories of shagging someone else’s woman there while he was working away.

You must be so proud of yourself…

+1 Sh*t hole

Bandit Country:Wow:
