Had my 1st off today in 11 months of CBT

Went for a ride with mate towards Harrow, and took a corner too quick and I leant over as normal, but I pressed my rear brake (he said the brake light came on).

There after I fell off the bike and slid on the floor, up the hill, I believe the only way I stop was because the hill was steep. Luckily I didn’t hit into anything.

There was a women behind us and she just over took us, didn’t even as if I was ok.

All I can remember is taking the corner, open my eyes and the bike is sliding behind me with sparks flying ever where. I tired to regain control but flipped over and then slid backwards.

Once I stopped and tired to get up I was fine… No pains apart from right thumb and slight abs pain.

Bike is fine with a slight bend in the pegs and handle bar…

Luckily I was wearing leather jacket, textiles pants and HG boot and HG gloves.

TBH the gear saved my ass, if it wasn’t for that then I would be in A&E

Lesson learnt - Ride extremely slow in the WET.

Ouch. I’m glad you’re OK and that your gear did its job. It’s good that the bike’s relatively unscathed, too. Does it have crash bungs on it?

Shame on the woman for just driving round you, though. That’s the very height of rubbishness.

Glad you’re not hurt and lesson has been learnt, and the bike’s not badly damaged. Hope this hasn’t put you off riding.

Took me two weeks to have my first-off. Grabbing a bunch of front brake in the wet. Glad to hear your and the bike are ok. Sometimes these lessons are painful AND expensive. Sounds like you got the former and not the latter.

oh shiit dude! hope your OK, glat you were kitted up with the correct clothing! sounds like you low sided. see you down the ace soon you can tell me your war story!

I was surprised that the gear held up well…

No crash bungs… only the rear brake pedal bent and few marks.

LOL no way, I would think it makes me a better rider…

Also I was up early this morning repair the bike to take to work, when I had the option of a car…

Glad this wasn’t a kneedown attempt (!) and glad you’re ok, and the bike seemed to come off pretty well too!

I had to wait 20 years for my first off. It was a rather large crash, so you are probably better off having lots of little crashes…

Well I’m glad your well, 20 years is a long time…

what happend?

Don’t feel bad… I would get back on a bike in an instant. My wife is a little less forgiving though, and won’t let me have two wheels again. There is always hope she’ll relent…

Without being too nosy…did you get a prosthetic in the end?

(Oops, failed the ‘not being nosy’ section)

Yes, but I don’t wear it. It looks as if a shop dummy in M&S is missing his right arm. It can’t do anything. Can’t wear it at the moment anyway as I’m recovering from further surgery on my damaged nerves. Assuming the surgery is successful I may be able to have something more functional, but I won’t know for at least a year whether the nerve graft has taken…

Long old process then…best of luck with it!

Never say never… But words can not explain how Happy I’m that your well. Are you down the Ace often? If so it would be great to catch up, I’m the Asian kid :D:D

Glad you’re ok. Had my first off a few weeks ago out riding with the 125ers, got bruised but the bike is still in repairs! Wouldn’t have made it through the day without the great bunch of LBers by my side.
