Had an off Sunday Morning on the gsxr.
I wanted to do the BCR run in the morning, but my son had a bad night sleep (10 weeks old) so I couldn’t make it down to the meeting point, so I thought I would do the route later on in the morning and head down for Breakfast.
Having a really nice ride, nice flowing corners with the occasional knee scrape. Came into this left hand corner and did not realise it was super tight, so far too hot, Tried to lean the bike over more to make the corner but still ran wide on to the opposite side of the road, (lucky there was no oncoming traffic) Still running wide I went on to the loss stones on the side of the road, start losing the front end, so I had to sit the bike up, 2 options:- Hedge with fence, or open gate into field.
So in a split second went for the field option, unfortunately the field had been ploughed, scrubbed load of speed off, but as soon as the wheels hit the rut’s I was sent flying, Bike flipped onto its side, me on my head.
Got the bike out of the field and I was amazed the damage was very limited, No damage brake lever or foot beg so it was ride-able. Need a full Fairing set and a Tank but that’s for later.
3 cars went passed me and 1 of them must of seen the crash. I could not believe they did not stop. An old rocker guy stop in a blue Van and lent me a load of gaffer tape to stick the fairings on with.
Top Guy! Thank you¬
Bike gear did a great job, very sore head and shoulder today.
Glad your alright, Ive had similar experiences with other car drivers, I was lying in the road with on coming traffic coming towards me and the first two cars indicated and went round me and drove on, the third one was a 4 x 4 he stopped and lifted the bike off me as my foot was stuck and I couldn’t get out from under it.
My mate who was in front of me trying not to panic parked the bike in the empty car park first!
So pleased there was no oncoming traffic! You were VERY lucky. Shame about the bike but its nothing compared to injuring yourself.
There seems to be bad news and offs every day at the moment - starting to wonder whether I should be a fair weather rider and put the bike away for a while … or just wear the waterproof textiles and hope for the best!
Glad your still with us WW! As we all know - it could have been so different if there had been something coming the other way or you’d been going through an area with walls and not hedges, gates etc. But there wasn’t - thank feck!
I know the bikes broken and scuffed - but given the circumstances I would say you had a really good day! V. Lucky mate. Hope the pain eases soon and that the bike isn’t too expensive to fix. Suzuki Spares Direct are a very quick parts service if you need to get clutch/gear/brake levers replaced quickly etc.
