Well I been lurking a few weeks now, so thought it time to reveal myself
If I told you I ride a Deauville, that’s probably all you need to know, except that I’m younger than you imagine. Just bought a bike after 5yrs abroad, so re-learning everything.
I’m not very good at corners, so I tend towards long distances in a straight line (family in Derbyshire = M1). Hoping to change that and looking for further tuition at the moment.
Thinking about it, I’m not very good at braking either. I don’t even have a leather jacket. All in all, I’m a pretty crap biker I guess.
I only joined because I have a fabulous ‘shame’ story regarding Bennetts…
Heh, welcome aboard twisticles. Your honesty will see you right, I’m sure Don’t worry about the corners, we all have to learn at some point. At least you’re learning, some people don’t even bother and might as well fit car tyres to their bikes!
Hello there. I’m an EastEnder too. Come and say hello at Borough Market on Wednesday, I’ll be on a yellow (filthy) F800S Beemer with my 1st trackday sticker probably still on the front.
The nickname is my own, and has been since 1984 and is commonly used amongst my older friends in real life. Recently usurped by some buggering 18 yr old in Daventry or somesuch on MySpace. Any volunteers to go and break his knees?
And I live in Hackney right near to Hackney Downs station area. Indeed I do know Well Street and such.
Still looking for a ‘local’ mechanic/tyre place, I’ve not been here (london) long.
ooh ooh I didn’t realise this thread got to page 2!
Thanks for the invites for Borough Market meet…what time does it end? I’m currently doing Motorcycle Maintenance for Beginners class at Hackney Community College on Wednesday nights until about 9pm. Always looking for an excuse to take the long way home…
Your local tyre and maintenance place should be Essential Rubber - they are great, offer LB discount of 10% and actually care about bikes! Do MOT’s, and repairs also.
Give Motoden a very wide berth, if most feedback believed, however we do have a friend (Sean) at George White’s (top of Shoreditch High St)
