Ok i bought a GSXR last winter which was a bit grubby to say the least some idiot had dropped it and probably left it outside for a few day before putting finally putting it away. So i took to het for 6 months stripped her completely replaced loads of stuff totaling to just over £1000. She is foooooking spotless for a K1 not a scratch.
heres the problem…
ive fallen in love with it so yesterday i rang my insurance company to add it to my policy … waiting… intermission music… waiting… sorry sir we wont insure you on a bike of that group.
So im 25 with 7 years experience, done my bike safe course and your telling me im uninsurable on this bike. Basically i lost my no claims last year because some litttle scrote nicked my scooter which i had for commuting to work.
Long story short bit id have to take a second policy for the gsxr costing me an insaine amount of money.
**Moral of the story… ANYONE WANNA BUY A BEAUTIFULL GSXR K1 600 IN BLUE WHITE???
That is gutting mate, but try other insurance companies, there might be a diamond in the rough there. - Paul Ashburn on 02380 206805 (onebike insurance) he helped me with my ZX6R.
Initially I wanted to add it to my exisiting policy with the 'cat, and wanted to do third party only, £900 worth of bike, 33 years old and 2 years NCB. They would NOT insure me!!! (it was being parked on the street was the reason…even though I only wanted TPO!!!). Call to Paul and he insured me for a few hundred, then once the cat insurance was up he added the cat for an extra 50 quid!!! bargin, and both are now TPFT…
as above - ring around. The insurance company i had the R6 insured with wouldn’t insure my R1 but after some internet searching and phone calls got a very competitive quote, that’s with 1 year no claim, garaged, 9 points and 30 years old.
H & R were the cheapest when I insured my K4 600 - something like £500 with 1 years no claims from my CG. Might be worth giving them ago - you tried the insurance engine on here? Thats where i got my quote from as it takes into account your car no claims aswell.
nice one Elad, didnt realise you could do that! sounds like exactly the same situation really. A guess i wouldnt mind 2 policies for a short term as mine is up in october.
I can only imagine :Palthough it is rubbish! it feels as if ive been riding for ages, no accidents since i was 19 unyet i’m in the catagrie where they say woooohhhaaaa hold on there a minute! you want what??? You live Where??? you must be having a laugh mate!!!Oh and ive never had a conviction!!!Hope i havnt gone and jinxed myself there :w00t:
Paul sorted me out for thirdparty/fire/theft on my gixer so i can add the bandit on in september. Pretty resonable quote aswell. Now just to work out if i can afford/justifie two bikes
“Misses Photographichero”

“Photographichero”
Dont be so selfish you cant have everything :w00t: hehehe
Will that be the same one that could not give me a renewal quote, despite three phone calls, then write to me the day before the renewal is due to tell me my renewal is due, but still no price?
The company that can’t be bothered to reply to my letter (to the CE) complaining that they may not be quite on top of the job.
Worst company I’ve been insured with since Fire Auto and Marine. (Younger members may need to look that up.)
