on my 600 I fill up the tank and get about 70 miles before the petrol light starts flashing. Well this was the case until about a week ago when I got 43miles.
I just checked the fuel tank and there is about half a tank left and the fuel gauge started flashing…
Does anyone have the same problem??
I went down to WLS and they said that it could be a warranty job but might not be…only know when theyve done a diagnostics check etc etc…but then I may have to fork out for everything…
Afraid i can’t really offer a solution or help with the problem but i would warn against West London Suzuki. I took my K7 GSXR 750 there for a suspected problem, which seem to fix itself, and they wanted to charge me over £700 for a new ECU and said it wasn’t covered under warrenty.
I got a second opinion from SBK City who did a full diagnosis check and happily talked me through it all while still connected to the laptop, and he confirmed everything was running perfectly and that the problem was probably some dodgy fuel.
If you have to go back to WLS just be aware, otherwise go to another dealer.
I’d bank on it being a dodgy sensor if you’ve got loads of fuel left and its only taking you about £6 to fill it right up. My 600 (K4) does 120 miles or so to a tank around town, more on motorways but shouldnt cost much to fix that.
Hey Marly, agree with Mark, sounds like a dodgy sensor. My old 600 k6 did at least 100 miles town riding before the light started flashing. Even then, it would only take about £10 worth of petrol. Hated the flashing light on the bike, would have much preferred a ‘proper’ fuel gauge.
70 miles to reserve on a 600 sports bike…that sound abissmal. Most 600’s can do at least 100 miles until reserve, even if you thrash them, unless you have either a tiny tank, or a long range reserve!
