Hi All,
Still quite new and haven’t put many posts up here yet, so Hi to everyone.
FYI, back in Aug 2012 I had a lovely GSXR 750 L0 nicked from Northcote Road, Battersea London.
Security I had was:
Almax Series III
Oxford Boss Disc Lock
Datatool Red C1
The bike was not covered.
Came back to find the post it was chained to removed from the ground and everything gone.
Police believe they used a stun gun to short the alarm.
I learnt the hard way so please see my advice to prevent theft in the future:
1 - Always cover the bike
2 - Ensure the cover is chained down
3 - Always use a disc lock
4 - Fit a Tracker
5 - Use an Almax series IIII chain
6- MOST IMPORTANT:
MAKE SURE THE BIKE IS CHAINED TO A MAINS POWERED LAMP POST OR BIKE ANCHOR STATION!
ALSO IF POSSIBLE ANCHOR THE SWING ARM - POSSIBLE ON GSXR’s AND MAYBE TRELLIS FRAME BIKE’S.
Good Luck Everyone!
Alex
I have some too … it’s shorter .
1 : A home without a garage is a false economy if you own a nice motorcycle .
2 : Fully comp or fully fukked .
I feel as though I should contribute 4), but I’m on the homebrew. Can someone else do mine? Ta.

The lesson is here is what everyone already knows - if a bike thief wants your motorbike, they will get it no matter how much security you have.
Like homebrew could dampen your wisdom, go for it =========>>>>>
I really don’t understand the Almax III 16mm chain vs Almax IV 19mm chain issue :ermm:
The exact same means used to defeat a Almax III 16mm chain will also defeat a Almax IV 19mm chain, it just takes a couple of seconds longer :ermm:
If all else fails go with Scorch
- Homebrew - It doesn’t offer any additional protection [YORKSHIREACCENTON] but by gum it does you good [YORKSHIREACCENTOFF]
I agree with Art - the 19mm is just heavier & bulkier for no great increase in security over a 16mm that I can see.
Since in this case they removed the post it was locked to, it could have been QE2 anchor chain and it wouldn’t have mattered.
Hi,
Hence why I was saying make sure it is a proper mains powered lamp post.
The post they removed was one of the smaller ones with pay and display signage on it.
Series 4 buys a fair bit more time, also I am yet to hear off a series 4 being done on a street in view of anything / everything.
They now do Series 5 believe it or not too, by special request…
