GSR sprockets

Well today I fitted the new chain and sprockets. -1 on the front and +2 at the rear. I only rode it 8 miles back from the workshop and was fairly gentle due to the warning I got from Matt about 1st gear. I was about 1 mile from home when i gave 3/4 throttle in 1st and feathered it off towards the top end and then snapped it into 2nd under full throttle and the front shot straight up when it hit the power band!
Absolutely kacked my pants!
the bike runs 11.8sec 1/4 mile on the standard gearing and I was told that it should see a very low 11sec now. Still got to get a speedo healer and test the top speed out and how that was affected. I can honestly say that in 3rd gear doing 30mph the bike pulls almost like 2nd would have at that speed with the original gearing. The bike seems to have LOADS more pulling power now!

I’ll get back with some pics when the sun is out and the info when I hit the twisties

Yeah -1 +2 will bring your top speed down a LOT, but makes riding fun! I went 0/+3 as I like a bit of motorway too!

the bike is geared for 160mph and I can only get 140 outta it as the drag is too much. I’m not too bothered about top speed at all. Where do you get the chance to do those speeds these days. The acceleration is very good now and I like it
I’ll check out the bike better tomorrow when I can get out for a bit

i went 1- on front and noticed changed wanted to go 2+ on back too but didlt have any in when wanted to do it so just got a standard althought will be soon

woke up early to have a little bimble round Muswell hill. Ended up in Green Lanes riding through the high st. looks normal again apart from cracked glass windows and some boarded up shops. shot back through to crouch end and am at work a little early. The bik’s a hoot to pin and I’m asa scared as when I first rode the bike

I’m all giddy this morning like christmas has come early! Oh how I miss that feeling. Thank you GSR. I love you :laugh::D:cool::slight_smile:

yeah i did the same and agreed its soo much better. i think most naked bikes should have this ‘mod’ as we never really get to the top speeds they can. acceleration is more fun than top speed anyway

Might have to do this myself now… shame I only changed chain and sprockets about 3000 miles ago :frowning:

i thought you were keeping the gsr for touring anyway :hehe:

Many would say don’t, but you COULD just change the sprockets…

Well not for touring… that’ll be my third bike next year…

the sprockets cost £40 all in for both. the chain is the standard chain as the smaller cog offsets the larger one

and Alex… you shouldn’t get a speedo healer with it cause when yours doing 40 in a 30, you’re probably closer to 30 anyway and wont get more points ;):stuck_out_tongue:

ill still beat u jaime haha

It’s not about the drag, it’s rather that you kak your pants too easily…
Also you can ride out your bike on the A41 :w00t:

naked as in no front fairings either?

I have no side fairings and stuff but some small front, what with being the Fazer 1000 MK1, and can reach top speed. that much a difference with front fairings?

yes
