Grey Ducati ST4S stolen in docklands last night

I hope it is ok to post this here. My bike was stolen at 7:40 pm last night (4/13/09) near the Mudchute DLR station out of a friend’s car park. Not looking like I am going to be able to claim it from insurance so I am f’ed as they say. Any news at all would be appriciated. I live for this bike.

here is a pic of it:

Thanks

Horrible stuff…many posters often put up Reg numbers and any individual features too.

REG is : LY53 UFP

Not much more to say about it. 2004 ABS version. It has/had a givi top box and panniers. They were on the bike when it was taken. Ducati Performance pipes. Very loud. Other than that it was basicly mint.

Oh, the agony.

What scum bags, hope you do find it. Why wouldn`t you be able to claim from your insurers.

Got distracted when i was parking up and left the keys in it… I know, don’t really want to hear it right now though…

unlucky mate, think a few people on here have left keys in at some point (I know I have) but have always been lucky enough. Hopefully this might turn up like makmans…

I feel for you fella, I had mine stolen from outside my house on Friday eve… gutted

You’re only human mate - everyone’s done that or similar at some point. Hope it all turns out well.

i did it 3 times when i had my 07 RR i now have a big keyring that grabs my attention:laugh:

thanks gents. i was ready to be ripped apart for it. it is idiotic.

Macsport. mind if i ask where abouts your’s was taken from?

i actually had 2 bikes taken. it sounds ridiculous but true. i was selling the second to a friend of mine and we had brought the bikes over to his place. went inside to grab a drink and when we came out the duc was gone. phoned the police then took the husky around the isle of dogs just hoping for some luck. gave up and returned to my friends place and we had dinner. when i got outside to leave (had decided to that the husky home to my garage given what had happend at my friends car park just 4 hours earlier) it was gone. unbelievable.

to be honest i do not care about the husky. that may sound absurd but a man can only carry so much grief. i am still trying to grasp it all. reading my post i can barely believe it myself.

Ecl207, mine was taken from Epping, early Friday night, it was there at 8pm, when I looked out the window at 10.30pm it had gone. Still can’t believe it.

I know what you mean about the ignition key though, I had to double check I hadn’t left mine on the bike as I’ve done that so many times!

Hope you get some good news though fella.

Crikey mate - losing two bikes like that. So sorry. It’s quite unbeleivable how brazen some thieves are.

i doubt yours and macs were taken by the same people

yours was prob taken by a chancer after seeing key in bike, go round local kids etc and ask questions offer reward.

would the insurance really need to know about the keys? i mean, just as a theoretical point, obviously. i’m not advocating anything

Really sorry to hear of this. We all make the ignition key mistake, it seems you were just very, very unlucky yesterday.

Reminds me of a sunny Saturday several years ago when I lived with my sister and her boyfriend in Tooting. They both had very expensive top of the range Marin mountainbikes, and went on shopping trips in different parts of south London, while I stayed at home. That afternoon they both arrived back within 10 minutes of each other - both their bikes had been nicked at exactly the same time, in identical circumstances, about 5 miles apart!

I hope you get your bikes back. It may still be worth trying a claim against your insurance - you never know till you’ve tried.

Mega sorry to hear about the bike… each time I hear something like this I wonder if I shouldn’t leave mine wallowing in my parent’s garage and not bring it up here… but wheres the point in that??

I don’t really know how these muppets (could use stronger terminology but I’m a lady :P) operate but I’ll watch the small ads…gum tree etc. They might have been chancers who won’t know what to do with it and they’ll advertise it somewhere… if not keep an eye on autotrader or e-bay? I guess they may change the number plates and try and flog it outside of London?

Try not to think ‘if only’… sounds like you’ve beaten yourself up quite enough already about the keys… Life is full of If Only’s… No one can judge or call you daft unless they’ve lead a perfect life… and I don’t know of anyone like that

I’ll keep my eyes peeled

its prob been wrangled around some waste ground/woods etc.was’nt exactly stolen to order wos it!

Don’t these tales highlight just how easy a bike is to nick (with or without the keys)! And we wonder why insurance can be so high…

I’d be surprised if that happened to the Ducati. The Husky yes, but not the Ducati.

+1 with Piippy, probably on ebay or in the small ads - or worse, been broken up and sold as spares.
