I’m going to organise an Off Road ride out for 17th January. I have found a couple of Green lanes Near me that would be Fun.
Here are a couple of Videos of one of the Lanes that someone (Not Me) put on Youtube
I’ve been on the Byways map of Essex and there are a couple of Lanes that link into Each other around that area.
This will be my First proper Off road attempt without an instructor so the pace won’t be electric but once i’ve got the hang of it the pace will pick up.
I’m going to put the Knobbly tyres on for this one as i’m not sure if the SM Wheels would be any good, but the more experienced riders out there will know what tyres to use.
Meeting place will be the Roundabout @ Dunton Ford Technical Centre on the A127. From there the Green Lane is 2 Mins up the road. The video shows it as about 10 mins long, then the 2nd lane up the road is probably half that so will do them both a couple of times if it isn’t long enough.
As this is an Off road ride only off road bikes can realistically attend. Any size engine is welcome but the bike does need to be Road legal as there are a couple of roads we go on to link the routes. Wheelies and Tom Foolery is acceptable on this ride out but not where it will draw unwanted attention.
As you can see by the Videos, be prepared to get Wet & Muddy, so dress accordingly and maybe bring tools for possible repairs.
I’ve found 4 Lanes that i am going to try out, The first one is On the London Bound carriageway of the A127 just after the Dunton turn off (Timmermans Nursery) So the Meeting point has now Changed to the Halfway House Car park on the A127.
From there we will cross over the A127 and go on the first Lane (Hiighlighted in Red)
Then we will go on the A128 back up to the Halfway House Roundabout and join the A127 up to Dunton, From there we head up to the 2nd and 3rd Lanes (again highlighted in Red)
re-route the breather pipes and understand how to resolve a bike when its been dropped in water … was in wales recently and my mates ktm450 was submerged when crossing a stream that turned out to be 4ft deep in the end ! … he knew what to do to recover the bike and not cause any damage
Cool, i’m not doing this route now, i’m meeting up with another guy and we are going to go to Ongar as the lanes are better, he said its about 4hrs of Lanes whereas my route is about an hour
Once he tells me where to meet him i’ll update the post
Never Mind, once i’ve done it next week i’ll know the route and can do it all over again on a weekend that more people can do. I done the section in the first map image i posted today and it was lots of fun but not very long so i done it back and forth a couple of times, so i reckon the Ongar roads will be better
