Congratulations to her for winning the medal! I was completely shocked though (as Foxy will atest) to hear that she only just got to the Olympics because her local pub started a whip-round to get her the £4k she needed to get there!
Just what the feck does this government think it’s doing?!??! She should have been given full financial and logistical support by the Olympic Council, surely?! Every other country whips our asses at sport, and people wonder why?!?! We put absolutely no faith or support to our sports-people.
I just cannot believe we don’t do more to encourage world-class British atheletes to compete in the games. It’s almost like the nation doesn’t care about national pride anymore. If this is so, why are the Olympics on TV?
This is a subject which makes me feel quite ashamed to be British, frankly. We used to be world-class quality at many things, now we’re a joke and a sheep to the international community.

You are absolutely right mate. We should be encouraging people to get to the olympics and take some pride in getting there.
Instead we just support lost causes…and there seems to be thousands of them.
