I have some friends comming over from America picking up my St1100 and dissapearing for 6 weeks to Europe in August(sniff sniff, but we go to America and do the six weeks over there)Anyway he has been enquiring about maps and as you know it is a pain in the bumski stopping to change pages and they get wet and arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh. So I am looking at these two items
http://www.gpsw.co.uk/details/prod3183.html this one has uk europe and the usa preloaded and is sensibly priced with a mounting kit for the ST included
this next one is slightly cheaper.in fact the price is awesome
http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/647_285005.html
with a suction mount which would attach to the screen or the top of the rev counter etc.
I want to pay no more than £150 which rules out the tom tom range
the one for sale in comet is only preloaded with the uk maps can you get a separate sd card preloaded with europe to swop with the uk card?
decisions decisions what do you reckon
I use the I3 for work and its fine.
Hiya Sick.
I take it the number 13 is the bus LOL,my American friend is travelling from north east england to Portsmouth then france Austria Germany etc think of how much the bus fare would be,postcode to postcode with real time directions is the way.
Look closely. Thats I3 not 13.
As in Garmin I3.
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooops sorry
wot do you reckon then to the I3 can you swop the uk card for a card loaded with mainland europe…
I do oplogise for the short sight
wot do you attach it to,your screen,?
Remember the devil is in the detail
Never used other maps just the UK ones.
Its attached to the face of my Rev counter and powered off the bike. Add a safety tether so it doesn’t fall of if the suction gives way. Also get a spare mount as they don’t last forever. I keep a spare in my tank bag at all times
Works very well although it has the occasional problem as the city streets are so close together and GPS is only accurate to 10 meters hbut this is a problem with ALL GPS systems.
I’ve also had problems with it spacing out completely but turn it off, take out the batteries and leave it for 10 minutes and it’s fine.
Much discussion and praise has been done about the TomTom Rider product. It was discussed in one of the recent Podcasts as well. I believe a number of members have had one fitted now and all love it. A search of the forums should help…
speak to dogstar or captn moto as they can get them cheap
I got one from Charlie, he gives yuo a discount for members. The tomtom is being great to me
if anyone can get these GPS units at discount prices either tom tom navman or Garmin I would be interested to know the prices and models,I am more interested in having a unit which is enabled for mainland europe and america canada, feel free to email me at [email protected]
