Well off i went for a bit of xmas shopping parked up by west croydon station saw it was pay and display max stay 4 hours no solo bike bays. paid the £2 for 2 hours and stuck the sticker on my screen for numbnuts to see.
Get back to find a ticket and no sticker to show ive paid. Got speaking to a resident though saw it all said how terrible the parking wardens are round there and said he’ll be my witness to contest it.
I’d be surprised if motorcycles are required to pay to park in a station car park really, they certainly shouldn’t be if there aren’t any bike bays.
Sounds as if your warden is simply trying it on, as most of them do.
Ask for the evidence, photos etc and appeal on the lines of the ticket being present possibly blown off by wind etc.
I wouldn’t pay it though as they’re just taking the ****.
They can’t really prove that you didn’t buy a ticket.
And from Croydon Council themselves bike parking is free in their car parks:
The warden clearly doesn’t know the rules or care about them, as with the majority of them…You didn’t even need to pay to park there.
mate I know it’s a little late now but, for uture ref I always take a pic with my phone to how y bike with the ticket on it, and a close to show it is within time…
s I’m scared that will happen to me to be honest some little **** from around there probably put it in there car
Well they can’t prove you didn’t buy a ticket, and its easy to remove one from a bike anyway or alternatively the wind took it so I’d appeal it on that basis.
Definately wouldn’t pay it as they’re taking the ****.
No help to you mate but I’ve used pay and display a couple of times.
When I have, I’ve taken a piccy of the ticket with my camera phone and
also a ticket of it placed on my bike - easy way to prove I did buy one.
Croydon is one of the better London boroughs for parking bikes in, as they allow you to park on onstreet pay and display bays as long as you don’t use the whole bay, but park at an angle between cars. I always find this is fine as there is usually plenty of room to park a bike. The car park right next to West Croydon Station has a motorcycle bay on your right hand side as you enter it; there’s always been room every time I’ve used it. Also there is a large underused bike parking bay on the main road heading towards Thornton Heath, within 100 yards of West Croydon Station.
Sorry to hear though you managed to get a ticket; I wish you every success in contesting it.
The way you worded your post it reads like you bought a pay and display ticket and attached it to your motorcycle! Please tell me you didn’t actually do that…
As eezyrida said there’s a Carpark right next to West Croydon Station with Solo Motorbike bays with ground anchors. I use them whenever I need to park in West Croydon. There’s a few further down the road as well.
Do you have any proof that you bought a ticket apart from the witness? Any pictures?
I recently got a parking ticket when parked down Zion Road in one of the bays. Id bought a ticket and put it in my tax disc holder which is located next to my radiator. I contested it with pictures of the ticket and where it was displayed. They cancelled the ticket about a month later but advised me to place it in a more visible location… like there is one without it getting pinched.
Of course I requested the pictures taken of my bike, not one of the pictures included the left hand side of the bike with the pay and display ticket displayed.
All these parking wardens on scooters or foot are ‘solo practice’.
