Usual scenario, went to overtake a bloke (in a freelander) and he decided he wanted to turn right, without warning!
We were travelling on an A road at approx 45mph and I hit the osr corner of his car. I remember going over the handlebars and slamming into the back of his car and then going down, tumbling for what felt like ages on the road. The bike touched me a couple of times and thankfully, nothing was coming the other way.
He stopped and was very concerned about me and was a nice bloke actually. once the police and recovery had left, he took me to the hospital to get my injuries looked at.
I got away with some severe brusing to the hip and big toe! but today, whiplash and stiffness in every joint seems to be coming out.
I can’t walk very well and can’t ride because I can’t change gear, so i’m using my car for now.
My bike, '05 white 600 Hornet is in poor shape but I don’t think it’s a write off. Every bit of bodywork plastic has to be replaced, mirror, clocks, left indicators, handlebars, seat, clutch lever, flyscreen, left pedals, grab rail plus associated parts. My crash bungs stopped any damage to the engine. Also my new sat nav is badly scuffed and my mobile phone took a hit.
All the forms arrived today so over the weekend I will be filling in paperwork. I only have 3rd party ins so I have got legal cover and they are going to purse a claim on my behalf. I’ve got a witness who saw that the bloke swerved without warning so fingers crossed it will pay for my losses but I was overtaking in a right turn filter lane so I don’t know where the blame will be laid.
Anyway, feeling a bit bruised and miserable also a bit worried about how I will feel when I next get on a bike. I think i’ll be ok. I have another bike to ride whilst mine is getting repaired, just need to get it mot’d but I can’t ride for a couple of weeks.
So take care you lot and don’t allow yourself to be rushed and take your time this weekend.
