Got chased

by a white van!!!

going along the side of clapham common past the college heading back to steatham and there’s a speed camera along there so i ease down my speed and there’s a white van right up my butt so i look back at him and still hes right up there.

so slow down abit more he doesn’t get the hint and goes closer so i pass the camera just in front the lights are red and i slam on hard make him cr*p himself. he gives me all sorts of hand signals i just ignore him and slowly pull away at 10mph hes now flashing his lights at me putting on his high beams. so being me i wernt having none of this i turn around and just stare at him while driving very slowly he goes to fly past me stupidly close i pull away change lane in front of him and start weaving along the road very happy with myself.

i saw the next set of lights were changing red i shot off just got through as they hit red thinking result hes gone but no i see a flash from the red light camera and this guy is flying down the road chasing me!!

not liking the idea of being part of a hit a run i leg it down the road and take as many side roads as i can. no surprise i lost him stupid van man thinking he can catch a bike pffft

Maybe your brake light was out and he was just trying to let you know, being the caring and courteous van driver battling against the stereotypical prejudices cast against him. Or maybe he was a king ****.

Bet he learned his lesson!

I can’t believe this filters the word ****. It’s not even spelt right!

yeah right their almost all the same and ill be keeping well away from them in the furture

Just think of it as he`s jelous of you.

Or maybe he was going to nick your bike…

Just one thing i would point out, as much as its easy to get road rage and feel you can escape just remember that if he does touch you whilst your riding you are going down and that will cost you more than your pride.

Either pull over and let him past or clear off and don’t look back.

Well said PJ, a good point well made in my opinion.

clear off…dont look back…had two lads follow me on a R1 once in a similar situation…just drop it down one anf go!

thats what ima be doing in the furture.

p.s i see youve got abit of prodigy in your sig:)

White vans are a cancer on the roads of this great, democratic and independent island nation. All tactics legal or otherwise are permissible in the great crusade against these vermin of the highway. Your actions are both laudable in their spontaneity, yet puny in their effect. Direct action is the way ahead.

Spray painting them all yellow is the way to go. Organised squads of bikers could cover a van in one pass. In my opinion, eight bikes (four a side) could cover one of these parasites in a single coat in one swoop.

Three such cadres working an eight hour day could eliminate up to three hundred of these scoundrels in a day. Fifteen hundred a week and an astonishing seventyfive thousand over the course of a year.

This is a call to arms, alone we are as powerless and ineffective as comrade Shiver, together we can change the dynamics of bike:white van ratio for ever!

Aux armes mes amis!

love it ill get some cans on my way to work

When the van was right up your chuff why didn’t you just let him past?

Seems to me you experienced someone driving carelessly but then did everything you could to make the situation much more dangerous.

Each to their own mate but rather you than me.

Doug

PS have a read of Roadcraft (if you can bear to) the section on “Attitude to Risk Taking” might just stop you becoming a statistic!

Sure gonna pissoff the AA.

F**k me you`re right, why do I never think things through? There are always consequences to the ill considered actions of we young folk, thank the lord for the sagicity of our senior members rescues us young blades from the inevitable consiquences of our inconsidered actions.

nope im quite happy putting my thoughts back to those retard drivers and wont let them get away with their stupid actions. if they wanna be in a rush and try to force me out of the way they can think again

i dont need to read no book or anything about the road ive cycled london roads for 15 years and been on my sv for a year so pretty happy with how i deal with situations

I raced a white van once. At the next set of lights he said he owned an R6 and offered to race again. Victory was mine.
