used skype for yonks, excellent , same with firefox and AVG both seem to work well with no major downsides, as to the others never seen them any good? and to all you yanks out there happy turkey day!

OpenOffice great 100stars
AVG free anti virus better then Norten
Gimp drawing also very good
Suse = UNIX based operating system The Best !!!

I use firefox but not the others. Have been thinking about Skype the last couple of days so that will be good. Cheers for the info, I shall check them out.

We use Skype, Avg and Firefox, tried Gimp, but found it a royal pain in the ass, when compared with the infamous Photoshop, with it crashing, not being intuitive, inflexible and looking butt-ugly. I’ve yet to try open-office, but guess it’s time to evaluate it Also, used to work in the unix/linux world, found that a pain in the ass too, but it has its uses.

Cheers - I’ve just started with Firefox, which works better than explorer, can’t move the windows around though, but explorer was driving me mad!!
Had AGV for ages whichh seems to work ok, quite interested in Skype, hadn’t heard of that one so thanks. The rest of the stuff I’ve pretty much got I think, though different formats.

I want to get AVG but the link does’nt work, is i right?

Ah seems to be working now, ta

I have used Firefox for ages, my only crititism is that it doesn’t cut and paste tables as well as IE. Other than that, it’s brill…

.

For those of you that have recently started using Firefox, here’s a little tip …

When you open a link, instead of clicking on it with your left mouse button, click on it with your scroll wheel and it opens the page in a new tab of the same browser window. Really nice feature!

I used AVG a while back - from the cover CD of a mag, and thought it was fine until PC caught a virus. Paid for decent virus software, discovered a fair number of worms and other beasties, promptly uninstalled AVG and never looked back. May have been an under spec’d copy for the mag to give away tho…

Firefox I’m using on Jay’s recommendation, and it seems ok, although I never saw what was wrong with IE6. Logo’s bonny tho, so I’ll prob stick with it

Had a little play with Picasa2 from Google and it seems decent as an image gallery thingy.

So much software, so little time.

With AVG, you must keep it up-to-date! Enable auto-update and make sure that your PC is doing it. Not one virus has made past AVG on my two machines, and I’ve been using it for 2-3 years.

Think I did have it set, i remember it cause I was on dial up at the time, and had to sit and watch it.

Hey, anything could’a got me I suppose.

Carry on as you were, men!

Gotta go with Jay here. Gimp is just not ready yet …

Firefox is nice, the latest beta is very sexy ( doesn’t take as long to open or crash - and top Clint Eastwood movie )

AVG is the mutts nuts

And Skype works off my Bluetooth headset fantastically well

Three programs to add are :

LogMeIn.Com beats VNC hands down and works through all known firewalls. I actually bought the more advance version on the back of the free stuff ! Top Draw

Google Earth : Brilliant

Google Desktop Search : I’d be dead without it

Google Earth rocks my World… fnarr fnarr.

Keep making myself dizzy with it… LOL
