Good day, bad day

Took the ex ('er Lydyship) out on the trike today, first time in about 6 months, went and had lunch at the Kentish Horse in March Beech (highly recommended, very nice). I’d been planning lunch further down the road but it took forever to get that far.

First off, Blackwall Tunnel southbound shut, so plan B was A13 and Dartford Crossing. Huge tailback on A13 near Dagenham, accident, looked like a Sunday driver had knocked a Fireblade rider off at speed, looked nasty and I hope the biker’s ok. Then later had to take a detour aroung Halstead because the main road was shut.

The thing that kind of marred the day, in addition to the off earlier, was the enormous amount of poor driving going on. Coming up the A21, some arse came roaring up the inside lane, indicated, pulled out to the outside lane - average, except for the fact the gap he went for was filled by a biker. It almost looked intentional. Car reg FG06 EWK or GWK, can’t quite recall, mate, you’ll kill someone soon if you carry on like that. And numerous other numpties, many Volvo drivers just out of hibernation.

So enjoy every bit of the good weather from now on, but take extra care for a month or so while the fair-weather cagers get up to speed.

Your not wrong - I got knocked off by a blind cager a few months back - so I’m probably extra-sensitive to bad driving these days - but I’m convinced that driving standards are getting a lot worse - I put the main factor down to impatience and lack of concentration - all the cagers seems to be thinking about five things at once while simaltaneously taking a phone call and shuffling through the track listing off their ipod - couple this with the sheer density of traffic in London and the south east - and every ride seems to be turning into an assault course.

i had an odd’ish day…

i went ou tin the lanes round near epping etc, felt very odd after a trackday, i used to hoon round them lanes, felt odd today liek i didnt know the raod, but i do!

came out of the lanes headign to high beech…approaching the old orleans rounadbout i slid into the back of…another SV! locked the front on some gravel i had’nt seen, no damage done both bikes stayed up.

then went to ace then onto a kd spot, i very very nearly lost it, i highsided it coming off the roundabout, just gave it bit too much gas, back went to overtake front…spun…gripped threw me up and almost over the bars! had a great view of my steering damper!:w00t::w00t: came back down in the seat and regained control:cool: lucky fugger or what!!:w00t: witnessed by ginger! no pics tho he was changing the lens as it happned!!:w00t::w00t:

Guys i feel for ya :w00t: after my day riding round london yesterday i have the utmost respect for those that do it every day…the amount of pillock cagers who i am sure deliberatley moved over to block me whilst filtering was shocking! and far to many tried the move over into the space occupied by me as well, i had many middle finger pointing up moments:D

I thought it was me just being a crappy rider but I’ve realized that this year is “kill a motorcyclist” year for cagers.

Got to have had more incidents of one sort or another in the last few weeks than in the whole of last year.

Arhhhh, the roads around that area were full of mugs yesterday!!

I was out for the first time on my new bike (woohoo :D) so I was taking it easy (ish), I’m not a mad rider anyway, not got enough confidence yet but the amount of silly cars out was amazing! I’m sure they just drive around with their eyes shut! One very nearly drive over my foot!! I was stopped at a two lane roundabout and the car literally drove into me… his excuse was, wait for it, he didnt see me!!! haha… MUG! I know all three of us were on black bikes but please!!! My two fellow riders made sure that he had seen all of us by the time we’d rode away!!

Other than that, had a really nice day! Love my new bike, soooooooooo glad I went for an SV… ‘pretty quick’, even with the restrictor  ! Went to Ongar and around there and then onto West Horndon and back towards High beech, stopped for a cuppa at the pub (not the tea stop, thought I’d make an ar*e out of myself on the gravel!!) and then a blast on the M25!! Finished off with a Roast dinner… what more can a girl ask for!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

+1

I’ve noticed a real drop in standard of driving over the last 2 - 4 yrs. Overtaking on the inside is more common now than ever before, lane hogging is practically standard. Nobody has any respect or consideration for anybody else (not just on the roads but in general). Making talking on a mobile illegal, well that really made a difference, NOT!!

The rozzers don’t appear to have the time or resources to enforce the law anymore!!

hehe glad your enjoying your SV…i wasnt wrong was i? sounds like you was around the same areas!
