GOLDfren AD brake pads, 2,000 miles and dead

Fitted less than 2,000 miles ago replacing the original Kawasaki front pads which had lasted over 10,000 miles and still had a little life left in them. Noticeably less stopping power, but they were cheap and I’m mainly commuting so I wasn’t too bothered at first as I thought I’d bagged a deal.

Brakes developed a horrible shudder at low speed so I take the pads out to clean the calipers as they get pretty dirty this time of year … no pads left. I mean literally nothing on some of them (four pads per caliper).

So, I’ve learnt some lessons! Check your brake pads regularly. And don’t be cheap; I’ve now found some genuine Kawasaki pads for double the cost of the GOLDfrens but if they last five times longer there is no debate.

Plus, I don’t even think I’m that heavy on the front brakes, but less than 2,000 miles is terrible. I just hope I haven’t damaged the discs :frowning:

Linky for GOLDfren’s website

I use EBC sintered on the F&R great feel I get through them & wear quite well

I hope said wear is not directly proportional to your forum name…
That said, my pads don’t last more than 4or5k as it’s got tons of weight to stop :0

Aye, maybe I need to go on a diet …

EBC organic for commuting

Excellent pads for road use, you may prefer the EBC sintered pads if your going on track or are a bit of a boy racer

EBC organic pads on the Bonne get me 12,000 miles on the front and double that on the rear for a cheap as chips £15.99 a pair and it stops as good as it ever did

EBC organic worked well on my TDM

but I didn’t like them on my Triumph I prefer the EBC Sintered HH work really well with plenty of feedback

Ferrodo or oem nissins on the honda. (organic for the rear and sintered for the front.
