Hi, I got a week off in October from the 5th to the 10th and will be taking a ferry the weekend before to either Bilbao or Santander. From there I still need to decide, either will go to Andorra and then back or through Spain to Gibraltar, maybe taking the ferry to Morocco just to say I’ve been in Africa
I don’t really put my knees down but I like to ride in a nice pace. Am up for anything, from camping to four stars hotel.
Anybody up for it?
Cheers,
Daniel
The last time i took the ferry from Plymouth to Santandere. it was a 24 hr crossing, unless they have got a faster boat now, thats two days out of the five youve allocated for the whole trip
Three days isnt a lot of time to get all the way down to north Africa and back.
Its doable, but you wont have any time to enjoy the trip, unlesss you like riding hard all day, only stopping for fuel and the occasional snack.
Ive just recently done a 2000 mile round trip of France, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Holland and Belguim in five days, with one days rest. Even though i enjoyed the trip, i wished we had taken longer, and was able to enjoy the countrys a little more, other than constant riding at high speeds, to get to our next destination.
Dont mean to ruin your holiday plans.
Yeah, I was counting in the weekends on either side but checking out the ferries they 1) had really stupid (for me) tavel times and 2) were flipping expensive. As I need to change my cam chain tensioner now and I don’t know if I am going to sell that bike, I think I will go to France at the end of October.
if you want to make it Bosnia via the scenic route through Italy then we may be able to hatch a plan.
I been trying to plan a nice trip myself but I would take the car… could always come at least half the way:)
help you carry your stuff…
planning trip to Italy next year
gimme time to save up, but want to try and get one more in this year before the bad weather arrives
Hi there hope you’ll have a fantastic trip, I have just come back from Spain (through France) and we had a fantastic time - still living it
We went through Andorra and I can only recommend it. If you have time go via Andorra la Vella and pick yourself a bargain up. We counted about 20 shops just driving through the place and I understand because of their tax thing you can pick up stuff for half the price you’d pay here. Unfortunately we did not have time to shop as we arrived latish and my sister dropped her helmet and cracked her visor so we had to go and try and find a new visor (not possible as she had some brand which was only known in Switzerland).
The roads are fantastic around there and through the Pyrenees. The only thing I regret is not taking more photos, so might have to do it again J
Have a fantastic trip and be safe.
Ps. The Spanish don’t have speed limits but speed suggestions, you go as fast as you can and as the roads are generally smooth like butter you can go fast. The other good thing is if the police is waiting for you on the side of the road, the drivers coming towards you will warn you J Oh, and don’t be surprised if you don’t see any other foreign cars or bikes, we saw two Italian and one French bike during the week we were there.
