I am coming up to the end of my 2 years of restricted riding at the beginning of June and so my licence should automatically upgrade to a full one.
My two years is up the day before I go on holiday to France (on the bike) and I’m wondering whether I could have the restrictor taken off actually on that day? Or do you have to wait for some kind of notification or new licence to turn up (or something else I haven’t thought of)…
As mentioned above, you just wait till your two years are up and then you can take the restrictor off. Mind you, if you get the restrictor taken off on the actual day then a copper won’t both about it.
No new license will turn up unless you request it at the cost of £20 at present. But if you were to change your address or any other thing that would entitle you to a free upgrade then you would have the new license without the 33BHp restriction visible on the license. In terms of the law, you will be able to ride any bigger bike after the 2 year period and the DVLA and police records should be upto date to ensure you don’t get done.
something i have worried about as i am paranoid that some cockup will see me having to take the new test and fail it but the back of a full liscence but under restriction should look like this shouldnt it?
